I haven't bleached and dyed my hair for nearly 3 months and my hair is really happy right now so I want to go as long as I can without doing it but I was wondering if I could tone it or something to a different (pale) colour? It's currently very faded purple with bits of pink and silver showing through in places. I don't want to go darker since my roots look awful with dark hair, with the light purple it doesn't look so bad.
Hard to say without a pic, but you could possibly tone it with a bluey green to make it silvery.
I think this is the most accurate picture I have.
It is really pretty! A blue toner would get you to lilac, a blue green (a diluted turquoise or something like Alpine Green or Pravana green) would get you a lovely silver.
Aaah that colour looks amazing! (Sorry that's not helpful but I think it looks lovely.)
I agree!
Thanks!
What colour would it go if I put silver dye over it?
Depends on the dye, but most likely a lilacy shade. Silvers tend to be blue based.
Alright, I've decided against the silver since it's so much up keep and I'm going to need to find a job soon since I'm moving to a new place.
I would like to go brown but I think I'm gonna have to use a permanent dye? I really don't wanna have to deal with my faded purple seeping through my colour and the maybe horrible colour a semi brown will go.
Would a permanent brown dye cover my current purple?
It would probably cover but be a pinker shade of brown. The trouble with permanent dyes is they don't stick very well over bleached hair, and of course they damage.
You could try an Adore brown, or go for a demi permanent with a very low vol peroxide (less than 10 vol)
I like to fill/pre-pigment before going back to natural colours, so a red dye over your current pic will help the brown to stick and look more natural
I have a bottle of Adore mahogany, could I dye my hair with that and then use a semi or demi?
I caved and bought an Olia dye in 5.0 brown. Do you ladies think this will cover my super faded purple/pink?

It might, but will fade very quickly to a pinky beige. You definitely need to fill the hair before a permanent dye if you want a natural colour. Try a strand test with a lower vol peroxide and see how it looks. Mix it and leave to sit for at least 5 minutes before you apply, this will help to lower the amount of lift it has.
If you want to use a box dye you will get a better result with a demi/24 wash type than a permanent.
