I don't even know how to explain it properly. Lately I've been oil soaking my hair, then shampoo (sometimes I do with clarifying and let it sit as I'm trying to fade my colour), then condition. It doesn't matter of I deep condition or not, once I rinse the conditioner out my hair feels super dry as if I just rinsed out clarifying shampoo. I tried rinsing less and that just made it stringy. I tried putting oil in before the conditioner and it helped but it still had that stringy look once dry. I tried a deep conditioning with aloe and honey and it still felt dry once rinsed.
This hasn't been an issue before and my hair is currently recovering from protein overload. Could that have something to do with it? I know I need to try to replace the moisture balance and I'm having a hard time. I can't seem to find a balance between dry or stringy.
What oil are you using?
I'm using coconut oil prepoo which generally my hair responds well too. When I tried to add oil before conditioner it was grapeseed oil.
Also I've been rinsing my conditioner in warm water because I'm not worried about the fade but do you think maybe that could be causing the conditioner to rinse out more because my hair is so porous? I rinsed in cold water today to test the theory, it felt better in the shower...will see how it dries.
coconut oil dries my hair out so i always follow it with a few conditioning treatments left on for a few hours apiece
