conditioner only washing

So I have a couple more questions about this method. I have been CO washing for about a week ( only 2 washes ) and although I'm sure I just need to give it a little time and my hair will get used to it, as of now it just doesn't look as clean as when I shampoo it. Which I can deal with BUT I have this thing on Saturday and I want my hair to be all shiny and clean, so was considering shampooing. My question is this, if I do shampoo my hair once in a while while trying to switch to CO washing, will it mess up the process of getting my hair used to it and bring me back to square one each time or can I get away with it?

Also, for those of you who use the K-Pak reconstructor, do you HAVE to shampoo your hair first? How do you CO washing ladies proceed when you use the K-Pak?

Personally, just a single shampoo - or in fact multiple shampoos, like when I'm trying to fade a colour out - don't seem to mess with my CO-washing routine much. I did some major bicarb fading recently and it only took a couple of weeks for my hair to get back into the CO-wash cycle.

I'll shampoo my hair and use K-PAK on Saturday to kill two birds with one stone!

I also shampoo before K-Pak and I shampoo before topping up my colour between root touch ups.  That doesn't seem to mess with my co washing routine (or how my hair behaves between) either.  😀

Even one wash with shampoo makes my hair frizzy and get greasy much sooner. SLS free shampoo is better, but after a couple of years of CO washing it is safe to say my hair does not appreciate shampoo!

Oh yes, my hair is quite the same!  It really doesn't like shampoo at all.  It becomes quite dry and frizzy - to the point I was questioning whether or not I had more damage than I thought!

What I meant by my post was that even though my hair doesn't get on well with shampoo, using it when I do (before a K-Pak or before topping up between doing my roots) doesn't seem to completely mess up my hair for long.  It settles back down quickly when I resume co washing.  😀

Hi guys, I have a question about the conditioner I'm currently using. I don't know if it's suitable for co-washing, and I still don't think I want to co-wash, but I wanted to ask if you could tell me if the ingredients from my conditioner are sutable for co-washing because sometimes I feel like if I washed my hair and scalp with conditioner, maybe the colour wouldn't run as much and maybe I could make it last a bit more. Anyway here are the ingredients, if you could help me that would be nice:

Aqua, Cetearyl Alcohol, Dipalmitoylethyl Hydroxyethylmonium Methosulfate, Ceteareth-20, Hydrolized Keratin, Tetrasodium EDTA, Citric Acid, Amodimethicone, Cetrimonium Chloride, Trideceth-12, Parfum, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Hexyl Cinnamal, Butylphenil, Methylpropional, Linalool, Limonene, Benzyl Salicylate

It's a cheap one I'm using because we couldn't afford anything else last month xD Sorry if this is not the place to ask!

Hi. I'm no expert but it does contain silicone, which would build up in your hair as it is only disolvable with sulphates (in shampoo). You need a conditioner that doesn't contain anything ending with 'cone'. I hope that helps Xx

You're welcome! I personally use Asda coconut conditioner to 'wash' my hair as it's thin and cheap. Then I use fructis smooth and sleek to condition my hair as it's thicker. This works for me and my hair feels lovely 🙂
