I did opt to do a clarifying shampoo prior to co washing just because I used to use so many styling products and those build up even if they don't contain silicones.  πŸ˜›

When you first begin co washing, you may find that your scalp goes a little nuts and your hair may feel extra greasy.  I promise, it will sort itself out.  When you strip the protective oils from your scalp, your sebaceous glands tend to go into overdrive to produce oil faster.  It will take some time for your scalp to realize this is no longer necessary and then oil production will slow down.  It may take a couple of weeks... but once your scalp adjusts to not having your oils stripped all the time, co washing makes your hair feel just as clean as using shampoo.  πŸ™‚

Quick question, does dry shampoo was out when co washing? I've just co washed my hair with telco conditioner and treseme naturals! I don't tank I scrubbed enough though, a lot of this red was washing out πŸ™ I hope it's just because it was my first wash after dying so it was coming off my scalp etc. I really feel as though its going to be lank and horrid tomorrow :/

I have had no trouble getting dry shampoo out of my hair when co washing, Meeshy.

When my hair is red, I do still get loads of red suds the first two or three times I co wash, too.  Red is a bugger that way!

Ah that's good to hear! Had a red attack just now...did a vinegar rinse just now and my hair was still damp while I've been sat watching tv...I leaned forward and there was nice red stripes all on my cream leather sofa! Thank god I had upholstery cleaner in haha Jon is non the wiser πŸ˜‰ had to run up and blast my hair with the dryer hehe! But I must say my hair feels good so far and much less greasy than when I tried this the first time!

Eeep!  Oh my gosh... glad you caught it before it dried!!!  I have cream coloured brushed canvas slip covers on my sofa.  I put towels over the back where I sit and where my daughter sits, especially since she air dries and is currently AP!  πŸ˜‰

Thanks for the extra info Cupcake, so I'll know my scalp going nuts etc is to be expected and won't panic and/or ask any more silly questions on here! πŸ˜‰

I read some bad stuff about Alberto Balsam on the long hair forum so I try and avoid it.

Can I ask what is supposed to be bad about Alberto Balsam? I often use it as it is cheap and easy to get hold of, but the girls on TLHC are usually pretty clued up about this stuff.
