Hi,

I used to post here for a few years until almost 2 years ago. I had a baby and went to normal box/highlighted 'mum hair' and it's just not me. So, my hair was last stripped almost a year ago and since then I've had maybe 3/4 box dyes on it. I don't think I have much build up at all.

Before, I was an avid directions user from red, pink, purple, blue, orange and ending in green. I used to put a live colour xxl through my hair to lighten and directions on top and I never had any problem and the colour always took well. Because it's been that long I'm not sure whether I'll need a colour b4 through it although I am trying to avoid that if I can. I should say I'm hoping to go back to red/pink not quite decided yet. My hair currently has blonde (natural) roots and has a boxed red through it that's really faded out.

Any help would be much appreciated.

The only way to remove the box dye is a colour remover. If you try and bleach it out it will go very orange, so you will only be able to have warm toned colours after
Why are you trying to avoid colour removers?

I just really hate the smell. When I was changing the colour previously I never had to strip it (not box dye) and just couldn't remember what I done when I first started dying with directions.
