Colouring advice

Hi everyone πŸ™‚

My name is Steph and I have a quick question if I may.

I have grown out bleach highlights and wanted ro colour my hair to get a purple undertone type look. I was thinking of stripping the hair of the colour first but then thought that the bleach parts might be a lighter purple which I thought might be quite nice :). I was going to use koleston perfect as I've use this range before.

I have picked 6/6 dark violet blonde with 0/66 violet with 30ml. Do you think I should add some base colour into that? Or will the 6/6 be enough? My base color is a 6 πŸ™‚

Any and all advise welcome

Thanks for taking the time to read my question πŸ™‚

Thanks
Steph x

It depends on the type of purple you want. Most of us here don't find the natural brown based purples are vivid enough so we use a direct dye on a pre-lightened base. The violet in the dye you are describing is there to provide a cool base, not add purple tones.
Using a direct dye in a bright purple over the base you have now (dark blonde/light brown with some bleached areas) will give you a dark purple with brighter purple highlights.

Yes lol I had noticed most of the purple posts are bright purple, I'm after a darker more subtle tone

What colour is your hair now? some purples won't look really bright if applied over a dark base. A brown or dark blonde could be dark enough already..

If you can post a pic of your hair now and the colour you would like to achieve it will be much easier to advise you.

I take it that you first plan to put the 6/6 on your hair and then the violet, am I right? I think it might work and get you the shade of purple you want, but I have no experience with Koleston hairdyes...

If you put a purple semi dye over that you will get close to the original colour you were looking for. Permanent purple dyes are pretty rubbish as they have a brown base.

Umm a deep purple would be best, something like adore purple rage would come out most like the colour you wanted. Or directions plum would be good but it fades really blue now so I think the fade wouldn't look great.

Any pink based deep purple colour will look good πŸ™‚
