ok, so what I really want to do it lighten/go back to my natural hair colour so I can dye it a brighter colour.
I've been dying my hair since I was 18 and I'm 21 now. My natural hair colour is a dirty blonde I dyed it black when I was 18, then I dyed it purple for a few years (it was very dark because of the black) and then the black eventually grew out and I had bright purple hair, I then dyed it red last year and have been dying it red since. I've only ever used Schwarzkopf XXL colours. Mystic Violet and Real Red.
I've seen Colour B4 being advertised a lot recently and I really want to use it. My question is would it get my hair light enough for me to use Nuclear Red by Special Effects and it still be pretty bright? I know it's not going to turn out that exact colour because I won't be bleaching my hair, but something close to that would be perfect. I just want it brighter than mine is now.
and also if it turns my hair ginger, will the Special Effects cover that up?
any help would be awesome
I think you will struggle to get the xxl out. You would need to buy the extra strength colour b4 and even that wont shift it if you also use heat on your hair. this is because the silicone in it melts into your hair and makes it damn stubborn to remove
I had to use other dyes while growing out my xxl dyed hair as I knew colour b4 would not work on it. i used just cheap temporary ones while it grew out
I used the Extra Strength Colour B4 to get out XXL black and purple....it worked really well for me! The first time I used it to strip the colour, it was a bit lighter. So I used it 2 more times and it worked like a charm. My hair was pretty bright orange! But it was definiately a hell of a lot lighter!
The thing is, even if you've been putting dark permanent dyes on, your hair will no doubt have changed colour under the dye. My natural hair colour is a darkish brown, but years and years of permanent dyes has actually lightened my hair and that's why orange was showing through, because that IS my natural hair, it's just been altered by dying.
When I used Colour B4, I used XXL Absolute Platinum instead of pure bleaching before putting on SFX Deep Purple because I knew it wouldn't show up because my hair was still pretty dark. My roots went a bright yellow blonde, but most of my hair went bright orange, and I mean bright! Despite this, I put the purple on top and it completely covered it! As it's been fading, instead of orange coming through, the purple is almost like a metallic purple where the orangeyest bits are.
I don't know about how the red would look over orange, but I would imagine it would be red to start, and as it fades, it'll start showing through. But that won't necessarily be a bad thing because it might still look good!
Hi, im naturally a blondish ginger colour but been dying my hair dark brown for about a year, even though it now looks almost black!! Bought some of the colour b4 extra strength and was just wondering if anyone has been in the same situation and saw how it worked? I am going to try it anyway, was just wondering if i should have more dark dye just incase it didnt work?
Thanks π
I don't know if anyone has tried it but can you let us know how you get on with it?
Colour B4 seems a bit hit and miss sometimes. I've seen posts on here that say it doesn't work on some box dyes, it's not supposed to work on the Beeunique style dyes but sometimes it does so it's all a bit trial and error.
If you can post pictures of before and after that would be great too but otherwise a personal review would still be fantastic. Thanks!
ok so just used this product. I have been a red head in variouse shades for over 3 years and have been dying my hair since i was 16 and I'm now 24. I generally used the schwartzkoph colours (however there spelt!) and i straighten my hair everyday but using heat protection spray and colour saving shampoo/conditioner. In the last year I've been dabbling in other hair colour dye makes. I last dyed my hair about a month ago red and tried to go blond about a week ago but the blond simply dulled off the red and lightened my roots for less then half a centimeter, it was barely noticable. I would have posted a before and after image but because I'm new it wont let me.
I think if I did the process again it would take me more blond then orange but it is expensive to do and it will dry out my hair so I'll wait before trying it again. It has dried out my hair a bit but a weeks worth of using a really good conditioner like James Brown intensive mask will sort that out. It does smell I wont lie to you and its an unpleasant slightly odd smell but it will fade off and if your recolouring over that then it won't be noticable. Anyway off to correct my orange hair XD
before and after π
Wow that's quite a difference! Thanks for showing piccies.
