Hello, everyone! Been a good few years since I was last active, sorry!
Anyway, I had a trusty white conditioner brand that I used to use for my pastel colours, but then I had dreads for a couple of years and stuck to dyes from the bottle. About a year ago I took the dreads out ready to go pastel and I cannot remember what the dye I used was! I've tried various different silicone-free, white conditioners and ended up with horrible results.
Does anyone have a favourite brand? I'm in England, so if you have an easily accessible (and cheap) brand to recommend that would be amazing π
Any white or clear silicone-free conditioner "should" work fine. I've used Asda's own coconut-scented one and Tresseme Naturals.
Define horrible results?
Did you do pastels ever before? They are a lot trickier to get even.
Tesco own brand coconut and almond conditioner, 80p.

Oh, that the colour wouldn't mix in with the conditioner properly. I've even put in like half a tub of dark pink colours with conditioner but then after putting it in my hair, sleeping with a bag over it and then rinsing had little to no result and just leave a slightly orange blonde, which sucked of course because I've only just got it a white blonde before trying to dye it pastel :p Oh I've also had a horrible result where it did dye my hair a pastel colour, but it left a really weird texture on my hair.
Oh damn it, I keep noticing mistakes or things I forgot after I post them. I don't have a local ASDA nearby so I tried the Tresseme Naturals and it worked! Thank you!! I'll give Tesco's own brand a go next time.

Yes sorry, the mistake I made in my first post confused things. Yes, I used to do pastels with a particular brand of conditioner from the Β£ shop but then 2 years go by without doing pastels and I can't remember it anymore.
Also, I thought I could list the ones I remember to be unsuccessful for me.
Herbal Essences (only one of these with silicone in)
Tesco essences

Blehh, how weird :/
I ran out of Tresemme Naturals recently (might have been vibrant naturals) and couldn't find more locally so went for the closest I could get, Tresemme Botanique which goes as far as to say "silicone free" right on the front of the bottle.
A bit of googling seems to show that the Naturals range has been discontinued in favour of this new Botanique range. Some of the ingredients are actually different so it's not just a re-branding of the same product.
Worked fine for mixing dye recently anyway. I used roughly 1:1 conditioner & dye though, so I can't vouch for doing pastels with it.
Very weird. I can honestly say I've never had an issue with any conditioner I've used. Sorry!
