Anyone try Wen Hair products?

A friend told me about Wen hair products and she swears by them.  Looking at their website it looks good, I see instead of shampoo they have a cleansing conditioner and it looks like there's none of the bad stuff in any of it.  I'm ordering a trial kit but it's kind of expensive.  Was wondering if anyone else has tried it?

I have no idea about the products, but I HATE the before and after photos page. http://www.wen.com/before-after.html

They've quite clearly got people in, taken a photo with normal hair. For the one wash photo they've given then a blowdry and some make up with a little extra saturation in the photo. For the final photo it's full on make over mode with make up, full smile, good lighting, extra saturation on the photo etc etc.

I hate that kind of thing because unless you're really looking for it you just don't see it. It's like the before and after photos for weight loss and muscle building products. I've seen an interview with a photographer for these things and seen in demonstrated (though I'd guessed before what was happening). The before and after photos are often taken on the SAME DAY! They have the model stand awkwardly, tummy out, shoulders down, looking miserable. Then they take the second photo, shoulders back, tummy in, big smile, better lighting, a little extra editing on the photo and BAM, you have an after photo. Try it in the mirror and you can see it.

The photos say nothing about the products they're selling and everything about the hairdresser and make up artist for the day. Oh and marketing manipulation!

I also trust little with a 60 day money back guarantee. It's an empty offer as they know the vast majority of people, even if they hate it, won't try for the refund. But it instils the idea in us that it must be good as they're SO confident in it they'll refund it. This makes us more likely to willingly see good results from it. It might be no better than the last product we used, but we're convinced it is. Perceived value is also part of this. You've paid more, so it must be good, right? Well, it might be, but we're more likely to believe it is because we paid more.

It's a bit like the experiment that was on Penn and Tellers Bull***t. They took one banana and cut it in half. They then got people to taste the two halves and told the tasters that one was from a normal banana and the other from an organic banana. A lot of the people said how much better the "organic" one was. This is probably because they believe organic to be better and so it must taste better.

Sorry for the rant, I didn't mean that to happen! In short, I can't actually comment on the products because I don't have them. Would I buy them? No. Partly the price, I highly doubt it does anything so amazing that it's worth it. Partly because I hate the website!

However, I'd still be interested to hear your opinion when you get it! It is interesting that this Chaz guy has taken on the idea of a "cleansing" conditioner. But frankly, I suspect a normal conditioner is cleansing enough. All most of us need is something to use to make massaging the hair, to shift dirt, easier.

I'm also aware that my view to the opposite end of the scale with my reaction to the marketing is more likely to make me respond negatively to the product! πŸ˜‰

I hate their ads. They are sooooooo long.
You can get the same results for cheaper by co-washing and staying away from silicones

Overpriced. Just visit the African American isle in Sally's for some wonderful and easy on the pocket book cleansing conditioners. Or just co wash πŸ™‚

I've always thought that the Wen system just sounds like a very expensive way to CO wash.
