Sooo, I opened a topic like this a while ago, and I have the same question now.
I have bleached hair, which is blonde with a little bit orange. My question is again, how to get that silvery white color from this? I tried purple shampoos, and they didn't help. So what do I do now? There is a pic of my current hair in the attachment (wet and dry). It was faded chocolate brown with 2-3 inches of untreated light ash brown roots. I bleached my hair with 12% (40 vol.) developer for about 45 mins. Now, I want that silvery hair, but do I have to bleach my hair again, and if not what dye would get me there. I was thinking about Keune 1517 which is a high lift blonde with a violet ash base (pic in attach.), but I don't know will it work out. Any info is helpful. Thanks! π
I would actually try diluted Pravana Silver on a test strand, and Nirvel Nutre Color in Grey on a test strand over what you have now. Pravana Silver has more of a cool violet base, while the Nirvel has a brown, neutral base to it. I think if you first toned it with a violet semi heavily diluted in conditioner, then used the Nirvel Grey diluted over it you would get that color though it would be slightly darker. If you want it lighter like this, I would wait a month from your last bleaching, do 1 or 2 reconstructing treatments and some deep conditioning treatments, then when its been a month, clarify, dont condition, and let your hair air dry to check its true condition. If it is healthy enough, you shouldn't need more than a 20 vol bleach, though you may be able to do a 20 vol bleach bath, I would test strand each. I would lighten it to just under pale yellow. Not yellow but not pale yellow, right in between so that you still get the blonde tones in it. I would tone it, and really I think the Nirvel would be the best option. Just make sure to dilute it as it is a dark steely grey used neat.
Also, if you di bleach, coat your hair in coconut oil at least a couple hours before, it really helps keep the damage down
Katie's advice is spot on but I'll repeat it: 40VOL DEeveloper? Outta window boo, don't do it to yourself. Good luck!
And when you've clarified your hair to check its condition, it's best to wait a couple of days to a week without washing to let the natural oils protect your hair and scalp, or you'll risk burns and fried hair. π
The worst thing is, I can't get Pravana nor Nirvel colours in Croatia. I can get Crazy Color, or maybe Joico Color Intensity from my hairdresser. What do you think about the high lift blonde I mentioned?
As far as I know, high-lift dyes are designed for dark, virgin hair. As their percentage of peroxide is often really high (but you can never know the true percentage for sure) I think it would be too great a risk to put that on your already heavily bleached hair.
I think the best route for you is as described by Katie (mild bleach baths). π
Thank you! I have also read how to make a toner out of the dye that I wanted to use, so I might try that if everything fails. π
I made it. π Got it to a nice silvery pearly white blonde. Pics in attach. I used Subrina 30/3 dye and developer that came with it. It didn't damage my hair at all and I'm very happy with the color. π

I dyed it again with Annyer Silver Blonde 8-9 dye with 9% (30 vol) developer. It did lift my roots quite a bit, and the rest of the hair is a beautiful color. π
