What is the age gap between you and your significant other?

I've never experienced a big age gap. Before I got together with my husband (who is about eight months older than me), I dated a guy two years younger. And that's about it.

I do have friends with relationships with age differences, doesn't really matter. I think you fall for a person, not for an age number.

There is 6 years between Simon & I, there was 9 years between my parents (they're not together anymore, but nothing to do with the gap)

My BF has 2 cousins, each on different sides of the family with 20 year ages gaps.

All seems to work fine.

Only thing that i sometimes find odd is that Mum isn't that much older than my BF (11 yrs)

The only time we notice a difference is whe  discussing music/tv shows from our childhood.

LOL that's the only part that freaks Jake out a bit sometimes, he says it makes him feel old. I'll be like, "Oh, I used to love the Spice Girls when they came out when I was in 4th grade!" or mention a song from middle school + he'll be like "Um, yeah, I was already working at Ford when that song came out" or "I had just bought my first house when I saw that movie" lol

Yeah I'm only 15 years younger than my mother-in-law, two years younger than my husband's youngest uncle and five years older than that uncle's wife!

I'm actually only 9 years younger than my boyfriends mum as she had him so young. I try not to think of that one lol

Though... it feels like we're a couple of generations apart... It's quite odd.

Since I've only had one real life partner .....I think we are 2.5 years apart? Nothing major. Been together for like 8 or 9 years though πŸ™‚

Think my biggest age gap would be 5 years, it just doesn't feel that way when you are together.

I've had boyfriends anything from a year younger up to 2 years older. Age doesn't come into it as long as your not a child imo.
When I was 18, I couldn't imagine possibly being with someone who was 30, although now at 22, it wouldn't bother me. I think it depends on both of your maturity levels as well among many other factors that come into love ofc.

My bf is morre than twice my age... I'm 20 and he's 43.
Anyone more extreme? πŸ˜€

Sometimes we feel the age difference, sometimes not. I still like to go to partys occasionally, he never wants to, for example. Or when I'm scared of something like calling a company etc. he sometimes makes fun of me.
But when we fool around it's all even :3
When he talks, he comes across as around 30, and I'm usually estimated older (on the phone)

Visually... uhm yeah I've been asked if I was his daughter or "where did your dad go" several times.
We've heard people shouting "gross" and stuff when we were kissing in public. In the beginning it made me feel weird but now I don't care. They better look after their own poor lives πŸ™‚

I'm a year older than my boyfriend but I always forget. I think he's more mature than me so I usually think he's older and then I sort of remember haha.

That's just wrong of them, @Lily - what idiots.  -r-

You're d**n right they'd better look after their own poor, pathetic lives.  They've probably got lots hidden away and are jealous of the sweet relationship you've got!

Just reading through all your posts here, and especially @zaralily's above, I thought of this story...

When I was 18, I went out with a bloke who said he was 24, and he also told my parents the same. πŸ˜€  When we broke up, I met up with a girl who also went out with him, and we compared notes - he was actually 29!  So, at that age, it was a bit of an age gap, but I was too naively young to notice it!  A few years later, it would not have made such a difference.

What's the largest age gap you've ever dated?

The largest age gap was 15 years. I met my ex when I was 19 and he was 34. I was with him for 5 years and during our relationship the age gap never bothered me but sometimes I could tell it did bother him, he often worried what others thought. He was only 9 years younger than my mum.

I went out with someone who was 16 when I was 12 for about 2-3 years, a lot of people did not like it particularly my dad I also got stick from my friends at school and lost the majority of them because of him. Those 2-3 years were hell, a very traumatic time for me and ever since I wish I had listened to my mum and dad.

My next boyfriend I met when I was 18 and he was 24, well, that's what he told me but all these years later we're still friends when he added me on facebook I saw he was born in 1977 so he would have actually been 27 when we were going out, so there was a 9 year age gap. I don't know why he lied because there was only a few years difference and it wouldn't have bothered me anyway.

I think the age gap seems less insignificant the older you become. I'm 7 years older than my husband but we don't really notice the gap at all. But, had I met him in my twenties, he'd have seemed well young!
