I honestly think a hand blender could be better! Being able to smoosh it up and down should mean it blends faster than a jug blender, plus the washing up is heaps easier.

Can you tell I <3 my hand blender?!

I always use a hand blender, I find it makes them smoother than our big one! I like to start with a spinach or kale base and blend them with coconut water, almond milk, coconut water or plain water (if you blend it all at once the greens can be a bit lumpy) and then add in whatever fruit/herbs I fancy πŸ™‚
I'm jealous of you all with your yoghurt and proper milk but it really upsets my tum and the almond version has extra protein so it's not all bad!

I think I need to try this! Definitely getting a blender. I never feel like eating anymore because I'm tired but its making me even more tired so I think this will help me! They'd be great for me to take to work because I end up doing 10 hour shifts on a chocolate bar because I just don't want to eat anything :/

Sometimes I only mix a few of these
1 orange
Pineapple
Watermelon (tried first time in July blended)
5 frozen banana peices (I hated banana my whole life but the texture is so silky I just started this in July)
Frozen Mango pieces
a couple handfuls of spinach
Ranier cherries
Peach
blueberry
Aqai juice
Cranberry Juice

Lean 15 protein powder (has sweetner in it however) need alternative

I can't figure out if we are to steam spinach for a 4 -5 minutes? I try it both ways

I tried Carrot two times, a bit too much texture I wish it was less bumpy
I tried a cucumber first time this week, good if add ice to it too. πŸ˜‰

kayerleigh ~ try blending yummies, it sure does boost energy & health! I feel it.

today I had strawberry, kiwi, orange, blueberries, banana, apple, grape, lil yoghurt,  pumkin seeds, sunflower seeds, cashew and Brazil nuts. I*hate* seeds & nuts, but this is a good way to force me into it πŸ™‚

I have purchased a blender in the hopes of getting actual food into my body rather than just rubbish!

I just chucked them in. pulsed it fir a bit as well. I like my smoothies thick & chunky, as I drink them through a jumbo straw.

My favourite smoothie recipe (for the frozen fruit, I always buy fresh and freeze.  Pre-frozen fruit is allowed to have a certain percentage of mould and sugar/syrup in it, ew):

Two bananas
Two handfuls of frozen blueberries
A handful of frozen raspberries
4 large frozen strawberries (cut the tops off before you freeze--I learned the hard way)
Several tablespoons of fat free vanilla yoghurt (I like Onken)
A bit of 1% or skim milk

Pulse to break up the frozen berries, then blitz for about a minute.  Freeze the bananas and you have berry ice cream.

Oh, another favourite of mine is a peanut butter banana shake:

Two bananas
Two tablespoons peanut butter
Two tablespoons low-fat cottage cheese
A generous helping of 1% or skim milk

Blitz.  This one is packed with protein and bananas with peanut butter is so yum.  It's ideal to freeze the bananas first so the friction of the blending doesn't leave you with a warmer smoothie (it won't go like ice cream because there's no high-water frozen fruit; it'll just be smoothie thickness and nice and cold).

Meeshybop I can't stand the coconut water on its own but its nice in smoothies (mainly because you can't actually taste it haha...) if you're trying to stay away from dairy I do really recommend the nut milks because for cooking or smoothies you can't tell the difference - I do stick with proper milk in my tea/coffee though cause I can totally taste it then πŸ˜›
Blended nuts in water are essentially what nut milk is πŸ™‚ if you're worried about your smoothie being chunky if you soak the nuts overnight they go creamy rather than bitty πŸ™‚

Hoorah!!! a thread on juices and smoothies! i became addicted to juicing and making smoothies almost 2 months! My body is so thankful for the change that the smell of junk food makes me ill!!

I like to try and keep my juices to a ratio of 80% Veg & 20% Fruit, as it is so easy just to h hooked on fruit juice alone!

did a juice the other day and even blended an avocado in to it - it was divine!
