You likely can make a formal complaint somewhere then. I really think you should. I would advise where to go, but I can't find anything but UK specific stuff at the moment on Google. I believe all hairdressers have to have a licence in the US.
I don't know the dye, but I believe it's a men's specific dye. It probably does have ppd, unless it says it's ppd free.
She didn't even say she was sorry or offer my money back. I feel disrespected.
Hi again,
Is it okay to wash my hair after having an allergic reaction to hair dye?
Thank you.

You really should research into complaining. She could cause someone some serious damage if she carries on.
How is everything feeling now? If its back to normal there shouldn't be a problem. Just be gentle. It might be worth avoiding getting shampoo on your scalp too much and don't rub it in to your scalp, just to avoid any potential irritation.
Hi Again, 🙂
It's getting better but still red. I found an organization I can complain too. It's not itchy any more.
Help!! I am afraid my hair is thinning. Not from this allergic reaction. Just due to age. I have always had the most perfect hair you could imagine! It's gone kind of gray. I am cool with that. But the texture changed. Oh well. But what scares me is this. I have thinned in the back. I have started using rogaine for that and I think it has helped. But I am scared out of my sits that it's thinning a little bit in the front! This scares me to death! You wouldn't think I was losing my hair. It's just not the same texture as it was. I am 55 so I guess I am safe in that I have kept it this long so I should be safe. 🙂
PS: You're my new therapist. I think I love you> !! Lol Joking of course.
Oh boy, I can actually sympathise with the worry. As someone that has very thick hair, who's outward identity is essentially in the look of their hair and a history of females in the family who's hair has thinned considerably, it's a worry I also have. It's not exactly the same, but thinning hair on women is more shocking to people in many ways. I'm nearly 43 now so expecting it to start soonish, if it does...
You are lucky to have kept it this long in some ways. My partner started thinning in his early 20s, by the time I met him at 29 his bald patch at the back was becoming obvious and his hairline was receding. Now he's 38 he just shaves his head as it's almost all gone on the top of his head. It's a little sad he doesn't have his blonde spiky hair anymore, and I know he's a bit sad about it still, but he's come to terms with it for the most part.
However, I can more than understand how it's distressing at any age! It's a massive shift in anyone's life and perception of their outward self.
All I can really say is, kept going with the regaine for now, it does appear to work for some people but not everyone. So if you're in the camp that it helps you might as well keep going. Do be objective about the results though. The flip side is. You don't want to be giving money to a company when their product isn't actually working for you. Obvious, I know, but it's so common to be convinced something is making a difference when it isn't. I admit a bias though, I have little trust in the claims of the beauty industry, it's a pretty dark area and a lot of exaggeration and twisting of the truth goes on.
It might be worth thinking about what you would do if the regaine stops working. Start easing yourself into the idea of it.
But heaven knows, I'm definitely no therapist lol just someone obsessed with their own hair and that of others because, well, no I've idea really!
Hi again. 🙂
My head is back to normal. *1*
Is there any dye I will be able to use? Natural vegetable die or something?
Thanks again. 🙂
Avoid anything with ppd. Any direct dyes such as adore dyes are fine for you to use.
Just do a skin test before you use anything, just to be sure.
I'm so shocked that the hairdresser would think because something was 'natural' it couldn't cause an allergy! Latex is perfectly natural but if someone wears latex gloves when treating my hair (or the problem I usually encounter, when doing my tattoos) I break out in an awful rash! A bit late now, and I don't know if they have the same name for things in the US but I get an anti-histamine from my doctor called Fexofenadine rather than the over the counter ones (usually cetirizine or loratadine) and I find it much better for skin break outs from allergies.
