awesome LOTR names :DD
let me know how you get on with the introductions, I was so surprised when I had rats at how easily the introductions were.

hehe πŸ™‚ they look like little hobbits so needed hobbit names!

Will do, they may be difficult to bond due to the ages but we'll see πŸ™‚

yes their back feet def look like little hobbit feet!

well good luck with it, I was told to do first introductions in a neutral space with a few bits of treats about, and to not panic if there is a bit of squeaking and light fighting, just them trying to decide dominance. Perseverance is sometimes the key!

With gerbils its a little different, I need to build a tank devide and put one gerbil either side and then swap them over every 2 or 3 hours for a week or so, so that thier scents become the same and they just accept each other πŸ™‚

that sounds like a good idea πŸ™‚ my ratty cage was so full of hammocks and things though that it would have been a nightmare to divide it lol

lol πŸ˜› mines fairly basic, lots of substrate to dig in and lots of cardboard to chew. They're happy gerbils I think πŸ™‚

Heehee! I went to the pet shop to get some supplies the other day and in a tank on a shelf there was a little sawdust firework going off. A gerbil was digging for his life in there but I couldn't see him at all! Just the sawdust flying through the air. Happy little dude. ;D

Sadly I'm not allowed any pets in my flat, but my mum has a Yorkshire Terrier who is great fun to be around when I visit. Here he is looking miserable because my mum made him wear a Christmas outfit:

Poor little guy! I'd love a (much bigger) dog of my own one day.

aww i love it when gerbils dig! mine used to make such a mess though lol. for mine i ended up buying a big glass fish tank so i could fill it deep enough with bedding etc for them to dig in, and then had to make a lid for it out of wire mesh lol.
the rats had a big massive cage with loads of layers and stuff as they were more climbers than diggers :p

ooohh that dog is so cute! bless his little outfit!

Yay, a pet topic. πŸ˜€ I love showcasing my pets!

I've a dog. She's a Epagneul Nain Continental Pappilon, in Dutch also known as butterfly dog. Her name is Robin and I'm practising agility with her, she's starting to get pretty good.

I also house three male sugargliders in an aviary in my house. Their names are Diablo, Baal and Mephisto, but they're nearly identical in appearance, so all of them are usually 'glidey' to me.

They're really fun to watch, but require quite a bit of upkeep. They are incredibly messy and I have to make their food since it can't be bought in a store, haha.

And last but not least, my favourite small rodent. Hamsters! I've housed every domesticated hamster, but currently only have Syrian hamsters. All apart of course. I'm a member of the Dutch hamster forum and been friends with hamster breeders (and seeing shows and such) for quite a while now. I'll probably breed hamster myself sometime.

This is Double Special's Bacatta, he's a caramel long haired rex male.

This is Grigio Mara's Robbedoes, a rust long haired male. Robbedoes is the Dutch name for an originally French comic character called Spirou.

This is Grigio Mara's Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, a dove long haired male.

This is Tux, I don't know his breeder. I bought him at an exotic and small animal festival. He's a black short haired male. This one is officially my husband's hamster, but obviously all animals are dear to both of us. πŸ™‚

Sorry for the huge post! I get really exited about my pets, haha.
