Pets- What have you got?

Havent done a pic before so I hope this works.  This should be 3 of the kittens my cat had.

Do they smell? I was going to get my mum a pair of hissing cockroaches for her birthday because they're awesome but she eventually said not to because they're apparently quite stinky!

Not noticed any stinkiness at all! As long as you keep their food fresh and change out any tissue paper you use that's fine. They need dirt and wood chips to live in and they bury themselves under it. We have a loo roll tunnel in the cage that they love as well. Again, change that out every week in case it gets grungy.

I change their food every two days - mostly apple cores and left over salad bits - change the wet kitchen paper every day and give them another wet piece, that's how they drink. Change the toilet roll tunnel once a week and every now and then take out a bit of the dirt and bark and change it for new stuff just to help keep it clean-ish. I usually take a garden trowel and dig out about a third of the tank's dirt and bark and replace it. Next time I take it from the other end of the tank and so on. Eventually it's all replaced but slowly over time.

Also, the female has now pee'd on me twice, that didn't smell either but wow can she pee! I dunno if they all do it but she licks my hand then pee's where she licked. Revolting creature lol.

Ah the one with the white face is called House.  He's a little fighter.  At about 7 or so days old he started to develop Flat Chested Kitten Syndrome which is where their ribs dont develop right and squish the heart and lungs. 

He's really lucky to be still with us.  He's got through the 2 major worrying periods of 9 days and 3 weeks.  He's got another stage to get through, between 12 and 16 weeks where a lot of kittens with this syndrome who were thriving, just die for some reason.

When he went for his vaccinations at 9 weeks (they are 10 1/2 now) the vet said altho his ribs are correcting themselves, he has a grade 3 or 4 heart murmur.  6 is the worst heart murmur, so he's quite bad really, but he doesnt really let it slow him down and if anything is more active than his brothers and sister.  You can see its affected his growth a bit as he's skinnier than the other kittens, he's all legs lol and his front legs are spaced quite wide apart.

What a little fighter xxx.  I'll be sending good thoughts his way for the next stage.
