Had all my hair chopped off!

Kind of looking like a faded lavender version of Satsuki from My Neighbour Totoro.

It's so baby soft now and although I catch myself looking like a boy from some angles I'm loving the change!

this sound adorable! i demand photos!!!

Congrats, Pippa!

I had an awesome day at a women's seminar at work yesterday--it was fantastic.

That sounds really interesting Intemp. Was it about empowerment?

It was.  It was about gender diversity in the workplace, challenging sexism and empowering women in the workplace to develop themselves and put themselves forward for middle and senior management positions.  It's a new initiative in our workplace, so it's still developing itself, but it was a really brilliant day.

Welcome back, Piestar!

Eee!  I went to Memorabilia today, and they had a Rocky Horror reunion with Barry Bostwick, Patricia Quinn and Nell Campbell (That's Brad, Magenta and Columbia).  Barry joked that my hair was natural, and I said, "Oh, yes, grew it myself!" and he said, "And the rest of your family, they're ..." and I said "Oh, they're blue, purple, pink ... we're known as the Rainbow Clan!"  And he started laughing, genuinely laughing, not a polite laugh.  We talked about his haunted house and how the Long Island Psychic lady is a fraud.

Patricia Quinn had someone who was taking aaaaages to get the photo they wanted with her, and she looked at me while they were setting up yet again and gave the biggest eye roll.  Then, she asked me who my top was (it's the ghost jumper from New Look), and I told her it was just from the high street shop.  We briefly chatted about hair, she asked me where I was from and we talked about Connecticut and Utah versus England, and she casually dropped Rob and Sheri Zombie's name in to the conversation, saying when she was talking with Sheri Zombie, Sheri said that Connecticut wasn't that different to England.

And then, I went up to Nell Campbell, who first asked if I'd knitted the jumper myself ... I said I wish, I'm not that talented!  Then she asked who it was, so I told her it was from the high street, and she was like "did you design it yourself at all?"  I had to sadly say no, but both she and Patricia Quinn loved my jumper!  And then Nell asked me about my hair, how I did it myself, and said she has a fifteen year old daughter who wants to go pink--so I gave her some tips about at-home hair dying, brands to use and dropped the name of this forum in case she needs any tips!  She wrote down some of the details (though not the website ... she might remember it, though) and was really pleased to learn about how to do red hair without frying it and the fact that semi reds last longer (we sort of got in to the science of it a bit).  There was a massive queue building up behind me, so we had to cut it short 🙁

... so, yeah, to sum up, I talked ghosts with Barry Bostwick, had a casual chat with Patricia Quinn and gave some hair tips to Nell Campbell.

It was fucking awesome.

Squee! I'll be 18 in january and my best friend told me he'd pay for my first tattoo as a present!
I'm kind of depressed these times, I feel ashamed and disappointed about myself so... It's making me happy.

I feel  I did my good deed yesterday at work!

I work in a medium-sized organisation in a small finance team, and our boss prefers to be in the same room as his team.  Yeah, I know.  Anyway, everyone is stressed at the moment and we’re very understaffed, but we have to deal with it.  My boss is a very nice person but really cannot handle stress and panics easily, and he lets everyone know it too!

Yesterday, he was working on the budget and was getting so frustrated.  Every 10 minutes or so, all afternoon, we’d hear him not only mutter under his breath but also say out loud to us “oh this is impossible, it just can’t be done, things can’t go on this way”.  A boss really should have a good work sense and be able to time-manage and handle workload (in an ideal world, I know!), but he does claim to have a great way of working and does talk about his methods all the time!

Although yesterday, there was NO getting away from the complaints.  Just before the end of the day, as I felt I had to do something, so I asked if he wanted to show me what the frustration was, maybe I could help.  I got the “no, you won't be able to help, it’s something I have to do” until he finally said, “okay, let me show you”.

I went over to see the frustration, and from what I gathered, it’s nothing I can’t help out with and told him that!  I said we can take some time on Monday and go through it and that, after seeing it, I think I am able to do what he needs done.  And just the relief in his voice and on his face was all worth it!  I think it is quite a simple task, and I felt so good to calm him down, leaving the office and saying “I think it should be simple, and I am not concerned, so you don’t be concerned either and enjoy your weekend”.

So I’ve volunteered myself for even more work on Monday, but if I can produce it the way it needs to be done, then I’m happy to take on the extra load.  But it's so difficult to handle someone who's in such a state of panic and overpower their nerves with "gentleness", especially when it is a superior!

my nephew arrived last night. 🙂

I was at the hospital with my sister while she was in labor for 18 hours, unfortunately the baby didn't wanna come out at all so she had to have a c-section, so I didn't get to see him. But I'm glad they're both healthy. I can't wait to see him.
