I thought this could be a little bit of fun πŸ™‚

It's my anomaly scan tomorrow so I find out if I'm having a boy or a girl (exciting!!!) and I thought based on other people's experience we could try and guess what it'll be πŸ™‚ I've listed the common 'pointers' to what I could be having though they mostly point toward a girl I'm hoping old wives tales are complete pish posh haha

I had really bad morning sickness that didn't stop till about 18 1/2 weeks
I have a fairly small bump still at almost 20 weeks, to the point that if I don't hold my t-shirt to my belly it's not all that obvious, except to me, I feel like a whale!
It's sitting quite high up in my tummy, like right behind my belly button
I haven't really gotten the bad acne that is rumoured
My hair hasn't grown as much as I anticipated but it's definitely gotten thicker and shinier
My leg hair grows less than usual which apparently is a gender clue
I'm reaaaaaaaalllllllyyyyyyyyyyy tired
I have total baby brain and repeat myself at least 3 times a day
We conceived at the end of a cycle which apparently hints towards a boy but the internet seems to suggest the opposite
I haven't particularly put on extra weight anywhere
I'm only really moody at work so I don't think I can say I've had mood swings?
I sleep on my right side (but I always have so I don't think this accounts for anything)
I have no cravings, at all
We could only really pick boy names to start with but we have settled on one for both now, again apparently a gender clue

Like I said most of it points more towards a girl but I'm interested to see what people think!

hehe at the start I was adamant I was having a boy just because that's what I want and if it was a girl I was 'sending it back' or 'selling it', even had a plan to swap with a friend her 6 year old son...he didn't like the idea haha. My sister keeps saying it's a girl though and we keep being reminded it's 50/50 so not to put all our eggs in one basket lol

I think it's a girl. I know it's old wives tales but it really seems like when the baby sits higher up and the belly is more round, it's a girl, and when the belly is lower and more pointy it's a boy. It seems like with boys women tend to break out more, don't notice as much hair growth as with girls, and women seem to put on more weight with boys. Of course none of this is proven, just what I experienced from having a boy and a girl and what I've seen in friends + clients lol. Can't wait to see what you're having!! I loved picking out names, it's so much fun! Do you have any girl names in mind at all? With Violet, I was dead set on either Morgan or Lily but Jake didn't like either + I hated the names he picked. An hour after having her we looked at her and just knew her name should be Violet lol.

Yeah there's never any proof with these sorta things, but my bump for my son and then my daughter were exactly like Katie describes! You must be so excited!

Can we have a bump pic? I am excellent at guessing the gender, but usually only in person, I just get very strong male or female vibes from peoples bumps lol
I love the whole name picking process. I never agreed upon a boys name with my daughters father, in the end I said if it was a boy he could pick, so I think deep down I knew it was a girl lol. I kept dreaming it was a girl, but put it down to wishful thinking as I really wanted one.
Are you going to share your possible name choices?

Here's a bump pic (please excuse the pyjamas)!
If it's a boy the plan is Grayson or a girl will be Gray, so either way will be 'baby Gray' and no middle name as the surname is double barrelled because we're both taking each other's names if/when we get married πŸ™‚

I won't be disappointed either way I just have a female strong family so wanting to even things out but I am getting very excited now!! We're going to start planning the nursery this weekend as well once we know πŸ™‚ eeekk!!

Speaking as a person with no middle name, I always felt a bit left out not having one. Also with unusual names, (which I love BTW, especially Gray for a girl) there is a chance your child will want the option to use it. Plus if you do have a girl, giving her a gender specific middle name may also be handy when she has a gender neutral first name.

Oh true I hadn't really thought of that, I just thought that my real name is ridiculously long (9 syllables with my middle name) and I hate writing it out that the less names the better lol. I'll mention it to Sam πŸ™‚ Grayson is definitely a boys name though so I wouldn't really want to add a middle name there, ooh maybe Gray Rose, I think that's pretty

I am jealous of your 9 syllable name lol! I just have 4, and my parents deliberately picked a name that couldn't be shortened.
One thing I didn't think of when picking my daughter's name was that she would always have to spell it. I spelled it so that when written it is obvious how to pronounce it (or so I thought, people still get it wrong) but I didn't think about her having to spell it out every time. We also have a surname that needs spelling out, and her middle name is Anne, nice and simple, after my grandmother, but she has to say 'with an E' every time too. Names are complicated!

I know such a responsibility as well when it's theirs for life! Haha I have to spell my name too and even when I say 'hi I'm daniella' the response is ALWAYS 'hi Danielle' no, just no! Though it is usually shortened, I prefer the long version lol

My boyfriend hates not having a middle name.

I hate my middle name.

There is no win πŸ™‚

My mum and I were so convinced my first was a boy, that mum came into the hospital when my DAUGHTER  was born with some lovely denim dungarees with matching blue t-shirt!
My second I hadn't a clue either way (girl) and my third I had a feeling was a boy, even buying two tiny Hawaii shirts near the end, and was I was right!!

There is only one girl in each generation of our family, so I gave my first daughter all three Grandmothers names, plus her own name.
Then, when I had my second daughter, I gave her an aunts name, my name, and a name my husband didn't like as a first name, which is a very girly flower name, as well as her own name which is a dual gender name.
Then my son, he has all three Granddads names, his dad's name and his own. I have a double-barreled surname, my and my husbands, mine is very unusual, frequently spelt wrong and quite ugly!! So, I just gave the kids my husbands name so it is easier for them.
My own first name is also extremely unusual, I've never met anyone else with the same name...so all the kids have unusual but not odd first names.
I don't regret them having long names, they all love thier names, but one thing I didn't take into account was the forms they/we would have to fill in...they only have the first two names on their hospital records because no more fits, filling in passport applications was a nightmare, and it always takes ages!! Add to that our involved address - we have a house name not a number and we live in Wales, so everything has to be spelt out!
Good luck with your scan  πŸ™‚

I am on the feeling-left-out-for-not-having-a-middle-name-team too, especially since both my parents and my little brother have one or more middle names.

I LOVE Gray Rose, by the way. It's so pretty!

I had a chat with Sam and he said he's happy for Gray to have a girly middle name, he said he didn't like Gray Rose but liked Gray Lilly which would give her a fairly full name lol, but we both kind of agree Grayson wouldn't need one and hope he won't hate us haha, he can always add one by deed poll πŸ˜‰ I was categorically told by both of my grandparents that they didn't want any of their names being used though I really like my Nan's name 'Esme'. I liked the idea of my Grampy's name as well 'George' because it's a real boy name but I know she wouldn't talk to me haha and my Dad's Dad's name is the same as my ex so I couldn't really entertain that one πŸ˜‰ Sam's Grandparents weren't keen on having their names used either and his Nan is 'Madeline' so I don't think I could do it anyway, a bit of a stigma in my mind to be honest.

Aaaahh I'm excited - 3 hours to go!!
