I like a 'variety' but DEF not everything. I hate country and pop and like Black metal (best of all metals! m/) as well as some folk metal, some Industrial, some 80s and 90s stuff, gypsy music (yes, really) some worldish music if it has a really cool beat like mixed with punk/fusion stuff such as Balkan Beat Box, Gogol Bordello (old stuff),  Shantel, even some traditional stuff.  And some that doesn't quite fit in other areas or would be called general 'rock' or 'alternative' such as Muse, System of a Down, Nine Inch Nails, Radiohead, VAST, old Marilyn Manson, not the new stuff πŸ˜›  Lana Del Rey, just got a new Tiamat album that covers her song which is so awesome.

My husband loves the Backstreet Boys lol so no judgements here.  πŸ˜‰

Mostly I'm into industrial, punk, metal, electronic music but I like some unexpected stuff like blue grass, ska and the Spice Girls. Some of my favorite bands are NIN, Ego Likeness, Rammstein, Combichrist, Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson (nothing after Eat Me Drink Me though), The Distillers, Smashing Pumpkins, Nightwish (with Tarja Turunen only), The Dreamside, Akiakane, Horrorpops, London After Midnight.

GD! That got deleted! Grrrrrrrr.  I was saying, what Industrial do you like? I used to go to parties that played a lot but I don't know too many bands off the top of my head. I liked Wumpscut a lot and also Rammstein and Combi, who are fun to dance to and I've seen a few times. Right now I'm in a super metal mood and my favorite metal band is Dimmu Borgir by a longgg shot. I also like Cradle and Old Man's Child, I just got into Shade Empire and Eluveitie, some Sirenia but their older stuff is a little Numetal sounding, similar to Lacuna Coil which I have to be in the mood for but meeting Christina was really a great moment.

My husband is more into the alt/rock stuff that I knew of as a kid but wasn't into like Weezer, Rage, Tool but I mostly don't listen to that on my own.

What's up with Manson? I didn't even get Eat me Drink me. My last was I think Golden Age of the Grotesque and even now all I have on my phone are AntiChrist (my fave by far!) and some of Mechanical, but just the slow songs so I have to be in the mood. I'm sooooooooooooo upset with how he went since he was one of my faves. I feel Trent always stays relatively good. OH and I also like Amanda Palmer lots, my husband doesn't haha but she's amazing. Dresden Dolls and alone. I used to love MSI but got soooo tired of them. Sneaker Pimps are cool. Oh I like Deftones as well.

I could just totally be in the mood for something like Mumford and Sons or Tom Petty, and when I saw Radiohead for the first time I totally cried, I have loved that band for soooo long, there were so many memories there. I "like" grunge but not so into specific bands, more just nostalgia.

My musical tastes range far and wide.  I think it's safe to say that the only music I genuinely don't like is rap.

I have a lot of industrial, 80s new wave, 90s grunge, 2000s pop ... some indie music ... some jpop ... some bands I've been listening to recently are:

Nine Inch Nails
Scissor Sisters
A Fine Frenzy
LMFAO
Kyary Pamyu Pamyu
Kenny Rogers
KMFDM
Ministry

Oh, and for anyone who really likes blues music, check out Hugh Laurie's albums if you haven't already.  They're amazing.

In fact, I'm gonna go listen to one right now, lol.

NIN is my absolute favourite and has been for years.  (In fact, tickets arrived on Friday for the gig at NEC in 7 weeks - VERY excited about that! *yay*)

I listen to loads of different stuff though.  My car currently has in it:
Ella Fitzgerald
Etta James
Lorde
Pearl Jam
Faith No More
Warrior Soul
Pink Floyd
Metallica
Most NIN albums (apart from Ghosts, & PHM cos its scratched :'()
And a Classic Euphoria Dance Mix

I also regularly listen to Lana del Rey, David Bowie, Adele, Paramore, Prodigy & Skid Row.

Bit of a mix but I tend to head for NIN if I can't decide.  πŸ™‚

Yea, NIN seriously m/  Also Intempestivity, you mean Hugh Laurie like the actor!?! That sounds amazing! I love him πŸ˜€

I'm not huge into rap either and it's not so much the beat, it's the lyrics. I have to like the lyrics or have them be in a language I don't understand. I live in a neighborhood where rap is huge and I don't begrudge it so much, I hate it a lot less than country, but I don't listen myself. I sort of wonder what they think when I drive around blasting really dark metal or loud arsed gypsy music! Haha! Like legit out of "Borat" music. I loooooooooooovvvvvvvvveee it! πŸ˜€

Someone said NIN and I came running. I am currently obsessed with NIN, and since seeing Trent live for the first time last year it has only gotten worse. I unfortunately will not be able to see NIN this year, though I find a modicum of comfort in young Trent Reznor's hair and affected voice while covering Billy Idol's Eyes Without A Face. <<YouTube that, seriously.

I also listen to Muse, Interpol, Rilo Kiley, Death Cab for Cutie, Bright Eyes, Radiohead,  Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and other musicians that probably featured on that show The OC, though I never watched.

Oh, and then there's Chopin. Very much enjoy his compositions. I also like the covers and original compositions of YouTuber VKGoesWild. She covers NIN, Metallica, SoaD, Deftones, and others on piano. Her interpretations are fantastic!

yay! amanda palmer is the greatest!  have you listened to the amanda palmer and the grand theft orchestra album yet?  theres also some great stuff on her "goes down under" dc

whats funny is that i went to only one nin show, which was a total dream at the time. dresden dolls opened, and i was a huge fan of them at the time as well, but i ended up enjoying the dolls' performance waaaay more than i enjoyed nin!  i was surprised at myself, but that began my super fandom, i guess.  i ran out on trent's encore song to go meet amanda and brian, lol.  ...they signed my hat <3  i think i may have outgrown my nin, tool, a perfect circle, deftones phase.

meanwhile, ive been loving gogol bordello since you introduced me to them, cordy.  i also am still a huge fan of world/inferno friendship society, and have seen them a billion times in concert.  i feel like those two bands are somehow similar.

i got tired of msi too- they are still fun, but i think my friends and i saw them too many times in college. i know i started to feel like the creepy old people at shows full of teenagers, even though we were still super young ourselves.

i also love foxy shazam, who started out kind of heavy and experimental, and now sound like kinda like queen.  lol, my toddler looooves rocking out to them.  and tub ring never ceases to amaze me- they are the perfect band for my musical ADD, because they are so ecclectic, even within songs sometimes, lol.

Hahaha! Yea I don't like new Gogol though! πŸ™ I feel like he sold out, and it's sad. I only saw NIN once like maybe...8? years ago? It was amazing. Queens of the Stone Age opened and I'm not a *huge* fan but they were really amazing live. I loved seeing NIN, dream come true. I don't need to go broke for another though. I also saw WI/FS a few times, they are fun but I hardly listen now. My good friend loves Tub Ring lol. (I think? Or at least a few of my MSI friends did) Yea MSI just played and people were saying it might be the last one, I'm like Kay I don't mind missing it. I saw DD open for MSI before I was into them, and not since! Which is a little sad cuz I never saw them as a 'fan' but I did go to fuze tv to see them talking live. I feel like I know her, most fans do, so that's enough. I did see Amanda Palmer and the Grand Theft (I guess it's like seeing DD but it's a little different) I don't think I met her up close and personal but most of my friends did, like I said, you feel like you have even if you haven't.  I think she signed something for me, my friend went to one of those kickstarter parties and got it, idk.

Oh and I love Chopin, my fave by far of the composers.

I hear that Morbi!! I think we all did. πŸ˜€ I had a poster of him from around that era, though I got it years later. He still looks pretty good. You like Industrial πŸ™‚ We used to have that music at this great party I used to go to in the city. They still have other ones but I think that one was the best. I miss it! πŸ™

Downward Spiral Trent is super hot Trent.  In fact, I had a little crush on Alan Rickman when the Harry Potter films first came out, because he looked like an older Trent Reznor.

Cordula, yeah, Hugh Laurie the actor :D.  He's put out a couple of blues albums now, and they're amazing.  I got to see him perform live at a university lecture hall, and we were only about five rows back from the little stage.  He played piano and guitar, and he and his fellow musicians drank vodka before performing a certain song (apparently it's a tradition for when the song is played live).  He was also in the charity cover band Band From TV before he did his own albums.  They did covers of songs like Mustang Sally, Viva Las Vegas and Shake Your Tail Feather.

@Cordula - most definitely!! *edit* and there used to be one my boyfriend dragged me to (I have issues regarding social anxiety), but the club lost its license, and the atmosphere at the replacement sucks :/

@Intempestivity - Have you seen Hugh Laurie in Kate Bush's music video? I can't remember which one it was, but my mum is a HUGE Kate Bush fan and he's super young in it, too :3

And yeah, industrial is kinda my go-to genre when listening to music, it really depends what kind of mood I'm in though, just lately I've been listening to a lot of Fear Factory and Mushroomhead to help deal with some of my anger/stress issues (the reasons for which are a little too personal to be posting on the internet) >_<
