They look wonderful, you've done a really good job on them! π I love their little painted noses.
I love how passionate you are about them Matty, I rarely see people that are SO into their hobbies its lovely π
And they are wonderfully done. Dolls of any kind scare me a bit if I'm honest (convert me!), but I can appreciate how bloody skillfully they're painted and outfitted! Really awesome.
Oh, Matty, those are gorgous!
My sister in law does BJDs and dollhouses, so I know how much hard work goes into each one ... they're beautiful.
Got a new one arriving today. My mum ordered a "Hujoo" which is a weird looking thing with huge eyes lol! I have no idea what I'll do with him. Probably make him a bit cyber goth I think. He seems like he needs bright colurs. I've already got the fur fabric to make the wig, it's intensely bright purple lol!
Well the doll arrived and I immediately set to work on him. He had no face or hair or eyes. In fact his real eyes are still in the post and I'm waiting for them. The only eyes I have are 16mm wide which is too small, he needs 20mm's but for photo's they look ok. He started out like this:
But now he looks like this:
Hehehe, surly little pixie boy.
What colour are his real eyes?
His real eyes are like anime eyes, large black pupil but the colour is a sort of orange/brownish. I ordered them off ebay so I only have the company photo to go by. I'll know better when they arrive what the exact colour is.
Yeah he's a funny little pixie type thing. I dunno what to do with him lol! My mum ordered him for me coz she thought he looked like fun. I did enjoy playing with him yesterday.
I love the doll Matty, looks great love his expression and hair.
where do you get the dolls from Matty?? There sooo nice! What got you into them?? Theres awesome!!
Those are great Matty I love them and that purple monster keyring you have we sell those in work lol
That doll looks like David Bowie. o_O
LOL! I hadn't thought of that but yeah, he does!
My dolls come from various places. Hujoo's have their own website. A good place to look for them is Junkyspot and there are so many other companies I couldn't possibly post them all. Hujoo's are good and cheap - around Β£30 for a basic like mine was. Once they have a face they go to Β£50 or more depending on what they come with. Some have a face, eyes, hair and clothes and they can run into triple figures if the stuff is good. My most expensive doll to date is my big fella, Dollmore Suntan Mettaa he's a limited of 20 in the world and he was Β£500. He stands 75cm's high so he's a big boy too.
If, like me, you're not rolling in cash then you can collect them in pieces. You can buy the heads separately and get the body later when you have more cash. I have a few heads at the moment but a body is on the way for two of my heads (two heads but same character so I only need one body).
Here's some more of my doll work:
This:
Is now this:
Two of these:
Became these two: (Painted both faces, closed one head's eyes to make him sleeping, made the wig and the cigarette myself by hand.
I love Gorillaz, the story and the music so I couldn't pass up the "2D" Stu Pot heads. They were unfinished heads and when the lady got them, expecting them to be finished she was upset. You can't send them back if they're unfinished because you can finish them at home so the doll compnaies wriggle out of that one. I bought them, finished them and now I'm very pleased with them. The lady who sold them to me is very happy with what I've done with them. She commissioned the heads herself, they're the only two in the world.
I think this counts?
Finished modelling and lighting and texturing some 3D stuff today for uni, just have to pose and animate it tomorrow (I'm doing a combination of animated stuff and stills)
The story is of a music box ballerina who is unhappy with being tied to her spring in one pose twirling to the same tune, so when the box closes she goes into her own imaginary world (represented by a theater) in which she can climb off her spring and dance freely the way she likes in front of others of her kind.
That's fantastic Phee! So much emotion in a selection of figures. We do things at the doll forum, when we get a new doll the current dolls help to open the boxes. We take photo's of little dolls with real sized scissors, opening boxes and pulling out the packaging etc. One of my story lines was an extention of this set of photo's:
I love doing stuff like that.
^_^ I think I may be aceing the lighting aspect of this module.
