I haven't worn red since I've had pink hair - but you lot are making me reconsider! I did get mightily offended the other day though when someone at work complimented me on matching my top to my hair. I hadn't noticed and it really wasn't intentional! Won't be doing that again!!
i tend to not wear colours the same as my hair, my hair is dark pink atm so i wont be wearing any pink. I have alot of varying colours in my wardrobe so i always have something that will go well with my hair. I seem to be wearing alot of pastel colours atm and you cant really go wrong with pastels π
The hardest thing I found when I had pink hair was lipstick. Before the all over pink it was mostly black and I wore red lipstick a lot. Because my skin is pale only pinky reds suit me and they just looked odd with pink hair. If you can pull off orangey reds I think they look fab with pink.
I am having to change my entire wardrobe since changing my hair. My natural colour was dark, and I always chose rich, deep jewel tones for clothes and hair dye. So most of my clothes are black with lots of purple, reds, emerald, teal, peacock blue, turquoise etc. Now my hair is more pastel (currently silver and lilac) none of these colours really work, I am finding more muted shades look much better. Even black doesn't really suit me anymore, I look better in grey.
Does anyone else base their clothing choices on their hair colour? I do, but it seems silly to me, as i might decide to change my colour soon- then what'll i do?!!! haha
Good question! I think that's one of the biggest reasons I want to stay a neutral haircolour - I have too many colours of clothing that I wouldn't want a distinct hair colour to clash with, and I don't want to worry about not matching, lol
I wear black 90% of the time, so... I'm safe π
I stick to dark colors but i do color block sometimes.
I cant say i am that bothered about matching my hair to my clothes.
i've obviously been colorful for way too long because i wear literally whatever-- i don't care if it clashes or matches, or anything like that. whatever i'm rocking ends up being treated like my natural shade. and honestly, i forget sometimes that it's not.
a few weeks ago my mother in law was like, "ohh, how cute! you did your nails to match!"
"match what?" ----me, genuinely confused
she goes, "your hair?"
aaaand my nails DID match my hair. i hadn't noticed. it was a total coincidence!
I hate being matchy matchy, I do enjoy clashing colours though - when my hair was blue I used to wear orange lipstick a lot. If anything I try not to wear tops that match my hair, but I don't get rid of them - I keep them to one side until I next change hair colour. When I had black hair I used to wear almost entirely black, now my hair is bright my clothes are like a rainbow! 😄
Thought of this thread when I did my nails this week.
Love coloured nail varnish and paint them just the colour I'm in the mood for (deep, teal green this week!), but when I choose outfits, I know I'll either try to match, wear neutral clothes, or it's going to clash like mad!
At least nails are very temporary, lol
All this is so new to me π I used to wear all black since I was 12 and around 5-6 years ago started wearing colors and I ended up mostly with pink/black wardrobe, and 2 years ago with pink/black hair. Last week I bought a blue top thinking I should have more matching colors to my hair, but now when I think about it, it sounds so wrong. Having black hair and black wardrobe was so much easier.

I used to be like this too with nails. I liked painting them with bright colors, maybe because almost all of my clothes are black and nail polish is a very temporary thing like you said. I don't know what happened to me but in the last year I've only used black and a deep cherry red on my nails, I just don't like how other colours look on my fingers. Same for my toenails.. I love pink nail polishes on my toes but the same colour on my fingernails makes me feel cheap, if you know what I mean?
I do. it's a nightmare. i seem to live in black and blues, and touches of pink. You won't find me wearing red though, its banished from my drawers and I only have one red cardigan from Amy Winehouse/Fred Perry collection that I dont have the heart to throw, but will never wear.
My wardrobe is seriously boring right now, its killing me
How long have you been pink? & do you have any plans to change?
About a year ago I guess, it was more red-pink back then. I plan to stay pink for about another year, but we shall see, at the very least, the next few months.

LOL, I've had that happen, too, with someone who works in my office.
I just wear what I like and really don't care how it works with my hair or nails. I think people can pull off just about anything if they're confident in themselves.

I'm deciding what colour to do this week, and now deep cherry red sounds fun π
I love black on my fingernails, but I have to be in the mood for any real distinct colour, but I don't mind shocking colours, I just haven't liked how frosted nail polish looks on my fingers, it's got to be a non-frosted gloss.
I agree too though, that matching toes and fingers somehow doesn't always work. I think it's trendier to mix it up and give hands and feet different personalities!

it does! I thought it would look so bad with my skin right now as I have a tan, but I like it a lot anyway!
I love black on my nails but I didn't use it for a long time because it always chipped after just one day and it annoyed me, but lately I have been using a top coat that really makes it last for days without getting damaged π
