America shopping list :D

I'm going to America end of this month for 12 days πŸ™‚ And I remember several times where I was like "meh this product is only American, I can't get it here D: " But... I can't remember them all.
I'll have few opportunities to go shopping, so I'm asking for Product Recommendations (preferably with name of the shop). It can be non-hair-related as well πŸ™‚ We'll be in Chicago, Waterloo and Moline, although I think there's only really time in Chicago.

List:

- GVP Joico Reconstructor  (Sallys, right?)
- Adore dyes (midnight blue + some brown for my mom) (shop?)

There's no point in getting Adore. It's only a little more expensive here from beeunique and with lots of bottles of stuff you really risk getting a HUGE overweight fine with the airline. Seriously, they are hefty fines.

Also, don't forget that you have to declare everything you're bringing back into the UK when you return, and if you've bought a lot, you'll end up getting stung with VAT and import duties too!

I'm from Germany πŸ™‚

We were told we can buy up 430 dollars worth of stuff before having to pay any import duties. And usually they don't control anyways.
And we fly with British Airways: Up to 23KG luggage + 2x 23 KG hand luggage (I don't know the correct terms here).
But thanks for thinking of it πŸ˜€

You'd be amazed how quickly the weight adds up πŸ™‚

Sounds like you're aware of the weight issue. Just wanted to add I planned to do the same when I went to the USA eearlier this year but didn't get time to get to Sally's there!

Something fun I'd recommend and one of the things I miss about the shopping there is, in the drugstores, the Wet-n-Wild range of cosmetics, super cheap, quite good quality nail varnishes, and fun coloured eyeliners and lip liners and lipsticks and such!

I'd look for tons of makeup... Too Faced, Mac (as far as I know it's a little cheaper in the US than here in Europe), Stila, Smashbox, Anastasia, the Kat Von D collection, and so on. Or those products that never got to the European market even if the brand itself is sold -for example, Maybelline Color Tattoo eyeshadows are available in more shades in the US than here.
I would personally look for those all-natural makeup or haircare items as well. It seems to me that the US have a wider selection of those products... someone tell me if I am right or not πŸ˜€  here you don't find them easily and most of the times they are freaking expensive.

Whenever I am abroad, I always have a look at the cosmetics' section in the stores. Everytime, everywhere I'm sure there will be different things from the ones I can get in my own country...  I always look for the "Oh, I've never seen this one before!" things

I second what Alexia said about wet n wild! They have great products and they're really affordable. They have pigmented eye shadows and lipsticks, and their nail polish is great too. I've heard nice things about milani brand too, which is sold in drug stores. (not sure if that's already available where you are)

I third the wet n wild! Their concealer that comes in a lipstick tube is only like $1-2 and it's nearly identical to MAC's pod concealer. You can find it at places like Rite Aid, Walgreens, CVS. Their nail polishes are great too. Also idk if shops over in Germany carry Loreal makeup, but their Voluminous mascara rocks!

From Sallys, definitely the GVP Joico KPak you mentioned, and they have a GVP Biolage Hydrating Balm conditioner as well that is really great. There's Hask Henna + Placenta Extra Strength Conditioning treatment too, it comes in a little packet for around $3.

First, thanks to you all πŸ™‚
I've been to sallys and to tjmaxx today. Sallys had 2 tiny bottles of the gvp joico, and I bought some gvp matrix stuff too πŸ™‚
Tjmaxx had the huge 1l bottles for 16 dollars, I guess that's awesome, but there was only the shampoo and condish and no reconstructor :/
