Very good hydrating conditioner/treatment + super cheap

So my hair has been literally parched lately. I don't know if it's the weather, being home with the heat on pretty much all the time but my hair has been super dry. And the fact I use protein stuff occasionnally for my bleach damage doesn't help as it really dries out my hair.

I usually try and make my own treatments as it's cheaper, just using cheap light cone-free conditioner (like Tesco/Wilco) adding honey and aloe vera gel (google "SMT treatment LHC" if you're interested in this recipe). But sometimes I'm just too lazy. So I got this honey and almond Alberto Balsam product that someone on here mentioned at some point (might have been Georgey or another fellow pound shop addict). So I went and got one from Savers or some other pound shop in Corby (love that my other half works in pound shop city).

Here is a link to show you what it looks like:
http://www.mysupermarket.co.uk/asda-compare-prices/Hair_Care/Alberto_Balsam_Intensive_Conditioning_Treatment_Honey_and_Almond_Extracts_200ml.html

So I slathered it on, stayed in the bath for 45mn-1hr and then washed my hair with conditioner (used Wilco's green conditioner, it cleans pretty good).

My hair was soooo moisturised, the difference was really obvious.

However, I stupidly forgot to use a leave-in or oil to lock in the moisture, so a lot of the moisture was gone after 24 hours (again that's mostly due to being home with the heat on a lot of the time). But it still feels pretty good, I'm just being a bit picky.

All in all, a really good buy for a pound. It could probably also work as just a normal conditioner, but I quite like doing deep treatments in the bath :).

I need to get my butt to ASDA then, I looooooooove me some cheap conditioners. Can't believe I used to spend a fortune on hair product and now, nothing fills me with more joy than a Β£1 and under conditioner!

Ive gone through two bottles of this since november. i love it so much, i get it for 99p in home bargains, makes my hair sooo soft. infact, i just used the last of my second tube earlier after an aphogee two step protein treatment, and my hair feels AMAZING! and it smell pretty nice, not too over powering.

ooo I bought some today because of this thread! theodora, would you reccoment i seal the ends or something with coconut oil to lock it in? is this when you towel dry your hair?

It's definitely a good idea to seal in moisture, basically you can use anything for that from an oil (coconut, argan, hemp, etc) or a leave-in spray or serum which might have silicones in it. You apply it on towel dried hair, but hair needs to still be damp enough, otherwise there's no moisture to lock in. Then leave to air-dry or blow-dry using heat protection (heat protectants should also lock-in moisture, one would hope).

The thing is, coconut oil used as a leave-in can sometimes make ends crunchy so do give it a try, it might or might not work out.

What I'd recommend is trying baby oil. I know that sounds bonkers but it really worked for me. Here is a thread about it on the LHC:
http://www.longhaircommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86298
and an article:
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjournal.php?do=article&articleid=225

I'll probably also make a post about it on my hair blog when I find the time.

Hope this helps :).

Seriously the baby oil thing is weird. I know I'm a bit of a sucker to jump into all the "hair fads" but considering a litte bottle was just Β£1, it's a cheap experiment.
I'm currently running a comb through my hair (unheard of!!!) and I only used 3 drops of baby oil after rinsing the dye yesterday. Usually by 24 hours my hair is already getting all dried up and tangly what with having the heat on all the time.

Crazy!

So glad other people like it! Because it has a lot of humectants, it's probably a good one to use after a protein treatment. Might do that after my next K Pak which is overdue.
