I have no idea, but I was so disappointed after seeing the magic on the video! Not all products suit everyone though. Both my daughter and I have very similar hair; long, bleached, (ie damaged) fine in texture but lots of it, wavy/curly. It may well work better on other hair types.

I read a few reviews about the shampoo/ conditioner that mentioned dryness, hair feeling like straw.

You might like the serum better. It seems to work nicely and doesn't make my hair dry at all.

There is also a leave in conditioning treatment in a white bottle that looks similar to the serum (which is in a black bottle). It does have the PEC complex but it's AWFUL. I remembered I had a bottle of something Split Remedy under my sink after buying the serum and checked and it was this. I did not like it when I first used it in the spring but I tried it again because it does have the PEC complex. Ugh, still hate it! It makes my hair very dry and doesn't seal splits like the serum.

Here is an ingredients comparison. I'm not a cosmetic scientist so I really don't know what makes one work well and others not so much. On sites I checked, including Tresemme's own, the serum is rated best of all the Split Remedy products.

okay, update on my use of the tresemme split remedy conditioner:

i used it for about a month, maybe a little less than a month, and at first i really really liked it a lot, but i totally hate it now. its like, it makes my hair feel like i put a weak gel in it. i remember reading that the PVM/MA copolymer and Polyquaternium-28 complex in it is a micro gel or something called similar to that...so thats probably why. but after a while, it really did make my hair feel like i had gel in it, it would kind of clump together like hair does when you put gel in it while its wet and let it air dry, it felt like, hard and crunchy??? i clarified and did a hydrating treatment and it felt a lot better. but idk, i dont like that conditioner at all anymore and i wouldnt recommend it to anyone. i dont know about the rest of the products because i havent tried them, but i definitely dont recommend the conditioner

That's such a shame, Katie!  Thanks so much for the update.

I find it weird how many products, including both hair and cosmetic items, seem to work BRILLIANTLY the first time you use them, then they stop performing and after repeated use, they may do more bad than good.

i know, its so weird! i used to have very acne prone skin growing up (i hit puberty at 10) and i tried eeevery product out there, and some of them would work and be okay for a month or two, but then its like, my skin would get used to it or something and id be back at square 1, if not worse off than i was in the first place! ive never used any kind of conditioner like this one before with the complex in it and i have never had this kind of reaction/result from a product before. im wondering if it added to the damage i got from the bleach baths? i mean, the damage wasnt anything too bad, it definitely could have been a lot worse as it has in the past! lol. but i wonder if the microgel in the complex that coats/seals the splits together temporarily, i wonder if that repeated closing and opening (as it wears off) over and over adds more to damage? it doesnt say anything about that in the report theat puerkz posted in the origional PEC post, so i dont know. but from the way my hair has responded and from what Wicked Pixie has said of her and her daughters hair from using this, im thinking its very probable.
