Another set of products i've come across is Bed head by Tigi

Their brightly coloured and funky bottles are very eyecatching, and each different kind of tigi shampoo and conditioner have their own unique (GEORGOUS) smell, and it makes your hair smell lovely until you wash it next (its so strong!)
But beware of this! these products are full of silicone! (at least i think thats what its called)
its like a plastic which covers the hair making it LOOK healthy and lovely and shiney, but it doesnt actually do much to the hairs condition. Imagine painting varnish over a rotting peice of wood, the wood would look shiney, but it would still be rotten inside.
Admitably i do buy a few products from Tigi (Rockaholic range) as i cant resist the smell and also it makes my hair go straighter after i blowdry it, usually if i would shampoo my hair with normal shampoo my hair would go back to its natural frizzyish state, where as Tigi would make it go straight and shiny.
So yeh, For hair condition i think its bad, But for your making your hair smell and 'LOOK' shiney, then thumbs up.
=]
Thanks for the warning!
I might be wrong, but as far as i know the Bed Head Superstar shamp/cond/leave in are free of this. well they're sulphate free, i'm not sure if that's silicone free too?
on the other hair/make up forum i belong too the eternal quest seems to be for sulphate free so i'm eternally confused by whether they're the same thing or not! apologies if i'n wrong!
sulphate and silicone are different things.
the sulphate strips semi perm hair dyes, it's a lathering agent that strips the dye thinking it's dirt.
silicone, is as gothicle said, like plastic. it coats the hair, making your hair soft and shiny, where as instead of healing the hair strand, it's essentially wrapped it in vaseline. this then melts into your hair and is rather horrid. the xxl dyes contain it as well. hope that helps =D
I have to agree completely with Gothsicle. From experience, I've had people come to me from using bed head on their hair and had problems with it.
The smells are absolutely lush, but from my experience the "colour preserver" shampoos and conditioners are horrible. My permanent hair colour faded double as quick compared with L'oreal Elvive (and half the price), became horribly dry and fly-away.
If you do want lovely smelling hair, I'd suggest the Lush products. 100% natural, smell divine and work a lot better than Tigi.
Also, my other quip with Tigi is that it is a "salon brand", and is generally more expensive than other brands. For the price of one bottle, I would be happy buying consumer level shampoo, conditioner AND deep conditioner.
If you want a salon brand, try L'oreal professionnel range. They are around the same price... and much better imho.
on all tigi shampoos and conditioners, it seys sulphate-free on the bottle but if its not sulphate-free then it doesnt say so. i went to warehouse yesterday so if it doesn't say sulphate-free then it has sulphate in it. xxxxxxxx
Yeah it's just the fact that silicone in the hair goes yucky if you heat style a lot. The packaging is correct about the sulphates it's just the warning about the silicone.
Yup Superstar doesn't have sulphate/salt in it and you can use it after a keratin treatment or brasilian blowdry. The Dumb Blonde range makes your hair shiny but it's also quite greasy so don't use too much on fine hair. I was using the Smoothing Stuff for ages as it smells of strawberries and cream and smoothes the frizz but it just feels artificial on your hair, it weighs it down, you have to get the amount you use just right. Plus silicone filled products are not a good idea if you use straighteners etc. as they burn silicone into your hair and make it feel and look like fibres - irriversible damage, hair is impossible to style, colour properly etc.
thats more of a general question, but i also know some shampoos etc that smell amazing but are full of silicones, which also locks your hair against proteins, moisture and all the other stuff which is good for your hair.
Can i use these shampoos though when i wash my hair with cleansing shampoo (which should remove silicone build ups) before treating with deep conditioners?
