Smart colour dyes - any good?

Right result time! Overall the pre-lightening does a pretty good job I think. It lightened my dark brown hair to a mid-blonde/ginger colour. I've heard the darker the hair the more bleaching sessions it needs? Stronger volume etc? So this result seemed pretty normal. But the colour itself is utter crap. You can barely see it's purple (using SFX on my natural hair looked better) and it still looks ginger in places. So I'm now trying to wash this out of my hair using cheap shampoo and once it's faded back to the blonde/ginger I shall prob try and lighten my hair a bit more before adding SFX dye.

I've had great results with their Pink, Red, Magenta in highlights. The colour doesn't last long though, but its a great temporay.

The Real Red all over colour though (not the highlights) turns out orange everytime no matter your base is, in my experience.

I had a really good result using the magenrta highlights and the old purple highlights they used to do, although it never came out purple it always came out a pretty purple/pink colour

I used to use these for doing small sections of hair, I thought they were good but the blue one didn't work.  I did find that the colour results are a little unpredictable though, they never turn out looking like the picture on the box!  Plus they always fade to orange.

I used a Smart red once - never again! It came out a crappy dark brown, not a hint of red in sight. Admittedly on dreadlocks hair colour looks totally different to the way it would look on "normal" hair but even so, I expected a red sheen at least, but no.

I tried the highlights kit in blue and it was a nice colour but after literally 2 washes it faded. to GREY.  I cried. A lot. And bought Manic Panic Shocking Blue to replace it.
