Silk pillowcase

I was noticing that my bleached hair was feeling very rough around the back of my head when I got up in the mornings. I couldn't work out why it was so much rougher there than on the rest of my head. Then it hit me - it was where it was in contact with my pillow.

I'd read something years ago about satin pillowcases being good for preventing frizz, so I figured it might be worth a try to see if it stopped the roughness. I couldn't find a satin pillowcase at a decent price, but I came across a silk one on Amazon for Β£18: http://www.amazon.co.uk/100%25-Momme-Charmeuse-Pillowcase-IVORY/dp/B001R8X2V8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1311237473&sr=8-1

Since I've been using this silk pillowcase, I no longer suffer from rough-feeling hair, frizz or tangles. And, as an added bonus, I no longer wake up with 'pillow creases' on my face (the pillowcase is claimed to help prevent wrinkles πŸ™‚ )

I've heard about this too! I bought a satin duvet set about a year ago but the down side was that the duvet slipped all over the place and my hubby's a notorious duvet thief in the night so I often woke up uncovered!

I can't say that the wrinkles theory is true, I'm turning 40 next month and I think at my age I'm probably beyond help in some respects lol!

I wholeheartedly agree that investing in a silk pillowcase is worth the extra few ££. As I've had them myself for years (in different styles, grades of weave etc) I think I've become an amateur expert in what works and what doesn't. For one, satin is 100% synthetic and therefore sweats, not the best material for skin/hair. Slightly puzzled why you couldn't find cheap satin as it's about a third of the cost of silk. Best silk to go for is a pure 100% natural mulberry and there are numerous great benefits to owning one (or a pair!) such as prevention of frizz, bed-head, wrinkles, knots etc etc. I recently purchased new ones from a company called SilkKiss.co.uk who explain in detail all there is to know about silk. I found their pricing probably one of the most reasonable given quality and service. Happy dreams!  πŸ˜€

I can give ya all one warning about satin though. My grandma, lovely old gal, decided in her infinite wisdom that she'd do the glamourous hollywood thing one night and wear a satin night gown, long black thingie all lacey like and gorgeous. She walzed herself into the bedroom, made goo-goo eyes at her hubby and said in a sexy voice "hello darling". Promptly sat her backside on the satin bedsheets next to him forgetting that satin + satin = slip! Down she went onto the floor. Luckily nothing hurt but pride. ;D

I had a stonewashed silk night shirt, less slippy but just as smooth. Invest in one of those if you feel like doing the hollywood thing.

I would like to have less frizzy hair, but don't like the feel of the slippery material πŸ™
