Nice 'N Easy Color Blend Foam - Clairol review (friends)

Not sure if this is a bad batch, or just a bad company. But my friend wanted her hair a medium brown, (her's was already pretty close just had growout) so she bought this foam for me to color her hair (I've been dying friend's hair for years and it turns out great) But when we used this stuff, her roots turned yellow and her hair turned black, jet black.
I followed all of the instructions and I've never had this happen, we called the company and they basically called us stupid and said we had to have not read directions.

She had to use color oops twice, bleach her hair after, then used John Freida Foam, and her hair turned out perfect.

Any Clairol brands for me are now a waste of money, I think they changed their formulas, I remember when I used their other products, I got orange roots!

I've heard horrible things about Clairol's foam dyes πŸ™

I'm glad her hair turned out well in the end, though!

Clairol foam dye is about as useful as a chocolate teapot and the same goes for the XXL foams that have just come out.

Glad it turned out well though πŸ™‚

It may just be the clairol brand! We tried dying it over with a natural instincts kind and then they went from bright yellow to orange! Ugh. Luckily, my mom has no problem with this brand, I dye her hair (it's called light brown) but it turns her hair dark brown! At least she likes it.

I have to say that the regular Nice 'N Easy permanent box dye has always been my favourite for dying my hair; I've used its light browns, reds & dark browns with no problems (though the reds fade fast to unnatural ginger tones) but I've heard horrendous things about the foam dye so I'd never touch it. πŸ™

I don't really understand how these foam dyes can work well... foam sounds like a weird way of applying dye!

It does! And it is weird. They say no drip, but I find it the most difficult to dye my hair :p
Maybe it's just their "new and new and improved" stuff? I used to use the original Natural Instincts semi permanent dye and it worked amazing, now they have the cream color and the new and improved semi, they are terrible!
I was using Dark Auburn Brown and I found out it was recalled! No wonder it ruined my hair, after I used that color, no dye took to my hair until I had to dye it black so something would stick!

Oh my god, I used another Clairol dye (not foam) and my hair went friggin black and it took months to wash it out, again with a medium brown. I was so angry, and this was a few years ago too. It bled like a mofo for a permanent.

I've only used their root touch up kits but it did seem that the colour I got varied quite dramatically on different occasions.

John Freda foam dyes are brilliant though, I love them used them a lot last year.

Idk why it does that! I felt so bad for my friend, she bought light brown and it turned it jet black, every clairol brand has done this to her hair, so we finally bleached her hair and it's blonde now, she was just so tired of brown hair dyes ruining her color

I think a lot of their colors have been recalled too :/

My experience of almost all box dyes is that brown comes out black, and anything else comes out orange, regardless of what they tell you on the packet! Sorry to hear your friend had such a rough time with the Clairol.

maybe it could just be nice and easy? I tried Loreal Sublime Mousse once in dark brown, once in an ash blonde, and I liked it a lot. especially in the dark brown, easy to apply and it turned out pretty much exactly like on the box, very nice and shiny. for me at least the foam makes it easier to soak my whole head really quickly.
