Halo Hair Extensions

As some of you know I have had a bit of a crappy time when it comes to extensions of late. I had been following Halo Hair Extensions on Twitter for a while now, but kept ummmming and ahhhhhing about it. One of the biggest sellers for me is the ability to dye my extensions. Obviously with 100% human hair extensions, I should be able to without any issues, but theres some sneaky sellers out there that throw in some synthetic bits.  *ott*

After seeing a video of a girl dying her Halo hair with Directions, I decided to go for it!

If you havent heard of these - they are attached with a wire - no clips pulling at your roots! I suppose that means for us, less damage! The wire is clear, and pretty strong!

I used diluted Virgin rose with a bit of atomic pink (my current mix) The dye seemed to soak up quickly and thankfully I could see no synthetic bits!

There was a slight difference in colour here as I needed top top up my own hair.

Topped up in the morning and matching!

I love them. I bought the 16inch and didnt expect them to look so long! They do sit more to the back of the head, so some might want to put an odd piece in the front if it bothers them. Depends how your hair is styled. There's a deluxe version too for about £50 more, which is meant to be thicker, but this was impressive enough! It's comfortable - I've worn them all day and I have no fear of them falling out now! The wire is adjustable to your head too.

I've never had enough length to curl my hair how I'd like but I do now!  *1*

I've worn them the last two days at work and I've had no fear of it falling out, it just can't, not unless you flip your head totally upside down and lift it out with a tug from the back. That's exactly what I did when I got home, and just hung them up. Such a joy not to pop all those clips out!!!
I was initially worried about ordering because I thought what if it's a fad? But it's better than I could have imagined, truthfully! Imagine the colour effects we could do here!

They are thick, I did sit for quite a while dying them, thin sections.

How much were they?

They are $$$.  Like $175 on the US site.  Would be much cheaper to buy a weft and some wire thread and make one yourself.

I am sure I used a 10% code I found on a blog, the smallest (these ones) are about £75-80?

I've seen videos on how to make them, but I was never sure.
By the time you've bought the hair and all I'd rather just buy it off the peg! I start projects and never finish them!

I'm totally sold on these. They take so little time to put in, and I've had some great comments on them. It's good because I don't have to worry about the potential damage clip ins could do to my weak hair

That's not too bad - it's much cheaper than the easy locks ones and those are made out of synthetic hair!

I can get 100% human hair wefts or clip ins 200 grams for about a hundred bucks, and I need 22" or 24" because my hair is the same length as the 20" extensions.  I was thinking about making a halo, but I think I am just going to do clip ins since my undercut is long enough for them now.

I think the sad thing is it is becoming harder and harder to buy hair from a reputable company that is truly 100% human hair. I've had so many issues in the past it was off putting, so knowing you can dye these was initially the one thing that drew me more to them i had been following them on Twitter for two years but was never sure. I wish I done it before!

I bought some Halo's, but the clip ins that they sell. I eventually ended up selling them onto my sister who dyed them and is super happy with them!

They were such good quality but I did notice a couple of black hairs. I didn't dye them but I am tempted to order from them again and tone to match my own hair, when I get my hair to the right colour - does anyone have experience of toning hair extensions?

ETA:

I just ordered my first 'proper' halo! I can't wait, I got it in bleach blonde and plan to tone it to match my hair... Here's hoping it works.

The person who emailed me back (after sending them a picture of my current colour) confirmed that bleach blonde would be the best one to choose...
