Dark & Lovely Ultra Cholesterol Hair Mask - so much love for this product!!

After totally destroying my hair's condition with henna (I know, Henna is supposed to condition your hair, not make it feel awful, but it did the opposite of what it's supposed to for me!), I really didn't know what to do with it to make it feel and look better.  It was tangled, felt really dry and damaged, and nothing seemed to be working.  I tried coconut oil overnight, tried protein treatments, and tried deep conditioning treatments, but nothing seemed to work, I couldn't even run my fingers through my hair in the shower even when it was slathered in conditioner because it was so tangled and knotty.  I'm not sure if it's entirely down to this product, but I did an intensive rescue session last night.  First, I trimmed off about an inch of the length to get rid of all the really badly damaged bits on the ends and the split ends.  Then I loaded my hair with mayo for about an hour, then rinsed out the mayo.  At this stage, my hair was still feeling tangled and knotted as I was washing it out, which makes my think it was the Ultra Cholesterol which did the most for my hair.  Then I had a nice hot bath, and sat with a load of this stuff on my hair while I soaked for about 10-15 mins.  The jar says to leave on for 5-7 mins for deep conditioning, but as it's not a protein treatment, it's fine to leave on for longer.  I then washed it out, and my hair felt silky and soft again, and no tangles or knots!  I am in love with this stuff!  You can get it from Boots, and it's £1.83 for a 250ml pot, it's found in the afro haircare section.  It looks a bit off-putting (it's bright yellow in the tub), and doesn't smell too pleasant, but I can't believe what an awesome job it did on my hair!  I bought it because it's made for dry/damaged/chemically treated afro hair, and since afro hair tends to be dry anyway, I though I'd give it a go for a super-moisturising treatment, and I'm so glad I did!  I can't recommend this stuff enough if your hair needs a bit of a moisture drench!
The jar looks like this:

I will definitely buy this stuff again! Total bargain, and does the job brilliantly!

Thank you for this, I'm going to go out today and get hold of some to try. My hair is starting to get crunchy at thei ends and sometimes I just don't have the time or bother to coconut oil it overnight so this sounds great! I never would have thought of using this otherwise so fingers crossed!

nah nah, looks like its just good conditioning treatment, its called "dark and lovely" because its marketed for ethnic hair types - it doesn't make your hair any darker ^.^

I bought some today after reading this review and omg i love it! Easily the best £1.83 i've ever spent. I left it on for about 10mins and when i washed it off i could feel the difference straight away. It's made my hair sleeker, thicker and now its dried it's suuuuper shiny.
