Hm apparently that big no-no of brushing my curls is the way to make me look less like a Shirley Temple wannabe!

yes you do need to brush them through! I use a wide toothed comb, it makes them less hilarious. you can also place the curlers lower down on the hair so the curls dont start right at the root.

It's difficult to place them lower with short hair!

I finger comb, never brush! But I comb through and through and pull slightly until they loosen and drop. I was worried that you'd have that reaction though, it's difficult to get used to. I think it looks fab!

I never sleep in them either to be honest. I do them in the evening, then take them out before bed. Then I just scoop my hair up over the pillow so the top curls don't get squashed. This makes the underneath curls squish more, so you don't get so much of a stuck straight out at the sides look, but you still have pretty curls over the top.

Finger combing gave me a frizzy mess! I put on a tiny dab of coconut oil and then brushed with a paddle brush and they looked MUCH better almost immediately. They've dropped a lot now, only curling on the ends, and I really like them. Once I've got the slap on and put my fascinator in I shall update with the final look 🙂

Yeah, it always goes frizzy to start with! I just comb and comb still they calm down, in weather like this, maybe a bit of serum or oil. Glad you like them now though 😀

I really wish I had the time to use mine more cos they just work so well!

Those curls really look nice!  I know you said you're working on taming them a bit... but I'm so impressed with how well these work.  Too bad I'll never have hair long enough to try them.  😉
