The superdrug one was hydrogenated or something like that, which raises the melting temperature, which is what made it less nice to use, but I think the process also messes with some of the good properties, not sure on that though.

The Holland and Barrett one is nice, it seems.. like, it's a more pearlescent white than the KTC coconut oil, but I think they're both on par with each other as they're both pure. My mum has been using the KTC stuff after the H&B stuff, and shes noticed no difference.

(Also, I bought my H&B for Β£18 for two, so I felt TOTALLY ripped off when I finally found the KTC which is Β£2.25!)

I've just used the last of my 500ml tub from holland & barrett that I bought back in November 2010!  Just over 2 years worth of use out of it! Although I do feel slightly ripped off as I bought it before I knew you could get coconut oil much cheaper, and paid around Β£15 for the tub!  Now I know that I can pay much less, I won't buy the h&b one again, but I have to say, even at Β£15 for the tub, it's well worth it for the amount of use I got out of it!

If it's solid, (I use a spoon to get out a lump) either warm it between your fingers and run through your hair, or pop it on the radiator so it melts a bit and then run it through your hair. Because the ambient temperature of my house seems to set coconut oil I wrap my head in cling film.

Just run it through your hair with your fingers really. πŸ™‚

Put the jar in warm water and it'll melt some. Pour it into you hand slowly and apply.

Or, scoop a small bit into a bowl and melt in in the micro.

Or, get some in your hands and warm it up til it's soft, then it'll spread fairly easily.

It melts well below body temp, so it's easy to melt.

I think most girls here scoop out a couple of spoons and microwave them before applying to damp hair. I personally stick the whole bottle in my bath (with the lid on!) and the warm water melts it. I've also had more luck applying to dry hair in winter because otherwise my hair doesn't dry and my head gets cold :p

I don't have a microwave, so I put however much coconut oil I need into a small bowl, then put that into a larger bowl and put boiling water into the larger bowl (sort of a bain marie kind of arrangement!)

I use the Boots stuff - you can get a 500ml jar for Β£5 - it is pretty solid til it gets to summer time! LOL!
I use it on hair, also to remove make up and moisturise me and the kiddies skin. They used it on our baby while she was in neonatal to stop the premature babies skin drying out in the incubators. Since then its been a staple!
