so a month or so ago i purchased from the Rainforest selection, as it says clearly no silicones, no parabens, no colourants and for the shampoo's no sulphates. Reason i bought it, was because its so clearly labeled it doesnt have such, so im not uhmming and ahhring if i remembered all the names of sulphates and silicones correctly. Though the conditioners do have sulphates, but i couldnt see any of the big evil ones ive been reading about, but below is the ingridients list, so anyone who knows more about sulphates than me, please let me know if anything is really evil in the conditioner! π
Aqua (Solvent/Diluent), Cetearyl Alcohol (Emulsifier), Glyceryl Stearate (Emulsifier), Distearoylethyl Hydroxyethylmonium Methosulfate (Antistatic Agent), Glycine Soja Oil (Emollient/Skin Conditioner), Polyglyceryl-4 Caprate (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Glycerin (Humectant), Parfum (Fragrance), Sodium Benzoate (Preservative), Sucrose Laurate (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Hydroxypropyl Guar (Emulsion stabilizer, Viscocity increasing agent), Linum Usitatissimum Seed Oil (Fragrance Ingredient), Salicylic Acid (Preservative/Hair Conditioner), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (Skin Conditioning Agent), Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate (Sunscreen), Pentaclethra Macroloba Seed Oil (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Citric Acid (pH Adjuster), Vaccinium Myrtillus Fruit Extract (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Tocopherol (Antioxidant).

Shampoo;
I had heard mixed reviews on this, that it doesnt lather up, that you need lots of it etc. Now i have mid thigh length hair, so even though i dont use huge mounts of shampoo, i still deffenitly use more than average.
Once you mix it up in your hands with water, put on head, stick head quickly under water, it really does lather up nicely! and a little goes a long way, but i think thats once you get used to it.
Basically does everything a shampoo should π and last for quite a while too. 6 weeks of 2 people using the 250ml bottle and its still not empty
HairButter;
i bought this before using there conditioner, as i really wanted to give my hair some moisture. Its very thick and doesnt rinse too well out of your hair. Your hair will be soft and managable, but very heavy and my hair wasnt it's usual light and fluffyness. Though it did mean no fly away hairs after an hour of it being in a french plaite :p
i also left this in my hair for a few hours before rinsing with water, as a attempt at a deep condition treatment, even harder to rinse out! and looked like i had put wax in my hair.
Basically very good to help hair get back to nice moistureness, but more once a month thing.
Conditioner;
Loving it! like i said not sure what sulphates are in this, though no evil looking ones atleast. Very thick and a little goes a long way, perfect for uber long hair.
End result-
Use hairbutter only occasionally as it will make hair heavy, but after the next shampoo&normal conditioner means hair is lovely light and soft.
My hair is fluffy and light and happy. Not as much shine(still shiny, just not uber so), but thats because im not using hair serums like i normally would, coconut oil is great for a deep condition treatment but not great as a replacement hair serum.
Anyone able to point me in the direction of a nice but not too exspensice silicone and sulphate free hair oil/serum?
So thats my long review on this product, sorry to waffle on, but hopefully maybe someone might find it useful, especially if your like me and want something silicone and sulphate free without having to read the ingridients list all the time.
I've also only be using this about 6 weeks, so my hair might be still adapting to silicone free stuffs.
Ooh I might pick up some of the conditioner. I like the smell of body shop things.
Also I think people use pure argan oil as a replacement for normal hair serums. I think it needs to he the pure stuff as not pure argan oil normally has cones in it.
yeah ive found a lot of argon oil, claiming to be 100% or a similar spin, but the ingridients list is full of silicones! π
also heads up with bodyshop, staff dont actually know anything about silicones, when i asked if there hair serums were cone free, he went through the ingridients and said it contained no silicone, yet i looked and it was full of them! so unless it says "silicone" they really dont know much at all...
also if you do buy stuff at body shop, check out there site and discountvouchers site, as usually they will have a form of discount. Bodyshop is way to pricey otherwise! (im a bit of a cheapskate:p)
Ah thanks for the heads up π I don't often buy more expensive hair products due to being a skint student but I like knowing they're going to be good when I do. Also I have short hair so products last me a while.
I've been eyeing up the rainforest stuff since you first posted on it so it's good to know that it's good!
same, though self employed/nmw day job, means always broke:p
though i found over the last 6 months as ive purposely cut down how much shampoo and conditioner i put in my hair and wash less, that my hair has adapted to that. Saves money and actually doing some good to my hair:p
Fingers crossed the rainforest selection suits your hair! though i would give it few weeks to let your hair adjust and hopefully then nice shiny hair π
I use argan oil in place of a serum, but i also have great results with coconut oil. You need to get pure Argan oil from somewhere like Holland & Barrett, it isn't cheap. Any 'argan oil' you can get in chemist/drugstore/beauty supply type places is not the pure oil. Can I ask why you don't like coconut oil as a leave in?
I just find it difficult to get the right consistancy. A little bit on is not noticable, put a tiny bit more on and hair looks uber greasy. I'm getting a little better at finding the balance though :p
