Adore Honey Brown Review (Tinted with SFX Candy Apple)

My daughter went Atomic Pink this summer has decided she'd like to be something darker.  She didn't really want to go purple or red, and understands that there is no removing AP (especially not for her, she has fragile hair)... so we thought we'd try out some of the Adore dyes.

The first one we used was from the old purple bottles, and it may have been a discontinued colour as it was deeply discounted on the website we purchased from (US site).  We used the colour Light Red Brown (not a colour I have seen listed in the newer line).  It didn't cover her lighter hair and new growth as evenly as it did her faded Atomic Pink and tbh we were both a little disappointed in the colour.  It faded quite a bit just one wash with a sulphate-free shampoo.  That was last week.  This week we mixed up Adore Honey Brown with about 30ml (1 Tablespoon) of Candy Apple Red to give her a really rich reddish brown.  I love it... so does she.

The dye is quite a bit thinner than we're used to with SFX dyes.  Adding a bit of the SFX dye did help thicken it up a bit.  I was honestly wishing I had used the bottle to apply this and not a tint brush as it dripped and ran all over the place!  LOL!  But clean-up was a breeze and very little staining (both skin and counters/shower, etc).  We applied it over hair that had been washed with clarifying shampoo and then dried with a hair dryer.  We wrapped her hair with cling film and she sat with the dye mix on her head for about 3.5 hours.

This mix was applied over Atomic Pink that had been faded 1 month using clarifying shampoo and washing/soaking in really warm water.

It's hard to capture the depth and warmth of the colour... it's really a very pretty autumn colour.  πŸ™‚

EDIT: Moderators, I apologize if this is in the wrong forum.  I wasn't sure if it would be considered a review, or show off your colours.  If I chose wrongly, please move my thread and accept my apologies!  xx

Thanks ladies!  I did her cut myself.  I'm actually kinda proud of that considering I've not been formally trained.  πŸ™‚  I wish you could see the colour in person.  It's quite a rich shade.

Overall, we're very pleased with the Adore dye.  We'll be using them again!

I'll add that she washed it today for the first time, and she said there was hardly any colour bleed.  She washes with lukewarm water, and uses a sulphate-free shampoo.  She said the suds were tinged a bit of a pinky-brown colour, but she didn't experience near the bleed that she did with Atomic Pink.  The colour hasn't noticeably faded after the first wash like the colour we did last week... so, yay!  πŸ™‚
