Atlantic Blue - more or less...

So today I bleached my hair... and the result was the one below:

It was yellow and quite dark orange towards the ends (seems like I still had some of the old black dye there... surprisingly). Anyway, I knew I wouldn't get the best of blues with what I had, but I also could do nothing else so I put on the dye. After 3 and half hours, I rinsed and conditioned it.

So as you can see, the result was quite a failure. Deep turquoise / green in the most orange parts, and blueish in the lightest. Almost looks like I wanted a forest / blue combo on purpose xD

Even though I failed at this because, really, no one ever knows how these things are turning out unless you are positvely sure you have zero old dye in, etc... It's ok for a first time. I prefer to have this in the meanwhile rather than having the perfect shade of blue and not be able to enjoy it due to hair loss / ruining my hair / you name it. Don't you think?

I guess I'll be able to fix this next month. Bleaching the darkest and leaving the rest alone. So even though I failed, thanks everyone for your suggestions, support and information, because otherwise I would have fried my hair or done something worse! :3

EDIT: I also must add... My hair is so thick and I have so much hair! that even with that bob you see there, I used one full tub of directions atlantic blue, and a bit of the other I had. So I guess I must buy me some more dye xD

I think it turned out a beautiful multi-tonal teal!

Enjoy it and then next month lighten the darker parts 😀

Thanks for the input! I guess it will be more noticeable in the sunlight? ^^
I'm glad I didn't fry my hair, it actually is soft and ok after cone free conditioning. Not as great as it was before, I had very healthy hair, but I can't complain at all! So I'll be spot bleaching next month and see how it goes :3

Sorry for the double post, I meant to modify my last reply but was afraid no one would see it so if a mod wants to combine these two, go ahead and thank you :3

So... I've been thinking about this. I start Uni on September 13th, and I don't know how comfortable I'll be able to go there with greenish hair. If by 12th my hair has faded lots, could I buy a purple and put it on? Will it not look purple at all, and just mix with the blue / green and look muddy? Should I just let it be like this and hope I can sort it out next month? I'm so no bleaching it again until then.

Also, if I were to use a purple shampoo now with the dye on, would it improve my bleached undertones any? I guess not, but I love asking questions if you can't tell xD

A dark purple like Plum should cover fairly well if it's relatively faded.

Purple shampoo will help tone any yellowy bits in your hair, but it won't do much for the areas that were orange, I'm afraid.  I used to use it when I was pink to tone out the yellow underneath so my pink stayed cool-toned and not salmony.

Ok so my line of action shall be... using the purple shampoo and see how it goes, and buy a dark purple just in case my hair turns gross or just not pretty at all! xD

I can't order directions at the moment, so plum is not an option. However there's a shop here in Valencia where I saw online that they have Hairgum Aricolor, and they have a purple. These are the colors:

I hate how these previews never match the result but whatever xD Purple seems deeper than plum here, think I should go for that? I like that I'm taking this with patience nad not just going mad over how my hair went green. I like to think I have the ocean in my hair xD

Truth is I don't dislike it that much after 2 days. In the sunlight it's actually not green, but turquoise / teal.
I think rebleaching next month shall do the trick, because the 2 streaks I did for testing bleach and dye a month or two ago, went very yellow and ginger, and the dye didn't take too much. But after bleaching this week and dying on top, these two streaks are the intense blue Atlantic Blue is supposed to be. So I'll give it another go next month and see how it goes!

Aww thanks! I like it more now, it looks like I did it on purpose that it's blue on top and the front and deep teal the rest xD

Two weeks ago I decided to slap on a tube of Directions' Turquoise I had left over from my previous dip dye, and it worked wonderfully over the green!

The greenest went a pretty teal and the lightest parts a beautiful turquoise. In direct sunlight it's so beautiful, and I've even come to like the deep green xD So until I can fix that, this will do and I'm amazed with Turquoise. It must be the best by Directions xD

I didn't want to start a new topic because I have all the pictures here and don't want to clog the forum, so here it goes...

As it is now, my hair is green, no questions asked. Now I have the money to buy bleach and dye, so I wanted to try again. It's been more than a month, almost two months since I bleached all my hair and applied the blue, so I think it's safe to reapply bleach now. I'll however baby my hair for the next week until I bleach it, but I've been taking good care of it ad hydrating it a lot.

So my line of action is the following:
-I can't buy any decolour... stuff, it's not really accessible where I live. So I was going to just shampoo my hair with anti-dandruff shampoo and leave it on so it takes out the green I currently have on.
Will that suffice? I don't know, so I might try with fairy or other stuff trying not to damage my hair too much.
-After that I'll make a hot oil mask and leave it on for as long as possible.
-Then I'll proceed to bleach, and I have a questions: there are, as you know, parts of my hair that went dark orange, and look dark green now. Will bleach make the colour come out AND actually make the orange go light? If I bleach again and end up with green hair again I'll give up :/
-And after that I'll apply the dye and hope my hair isn't that damaged D:

It actually scares me because I don't want to kill my hair but I've waited 2 months and my hair doesn't feel damaged, but WHO KNOWS.

Please wish me good luck for next week, and I hope to come back with my blue finally!

go to the thread on fading and try to fade for as long as you can i'd recommend a few weeks to avoid the need for more bleaching. then using coconut oil just go the bleach bath route. cant give you more specifics as i have not had green hair before.
for fading i did use the washing liquid etc and my hair was so sad 🙁 but it was better than bleach i think.

I found when I had atlantic blue, the exact same thing happened. It ended up green after being a nice turquoise. I tried adding more on, and leaving it for longer, and that worked a little better, but it was still pretty turquoise. I decided to give up and go red instead, so thought I would have to bleach the pale green it had gone to get it out, nope, I should have used a ash based blonde hair dye to cancel the green tones. I bleached it, and it went a pastel green! really pale lime green lol Luckily I left it for a bit longer, and now I have bright red 🙂
