Hello! If one is banishing brassiness on bleached and previously-toned hair regularly with blue shampoo and /or a semi-permanent dye (Directions) mixed with conditioner, will this effect the results of a toner application (Dialight with 10 vol dev)? Should one do a clarifying shampoo before toning to ensure cleaner results or should one just go ahead and tone?
Why do you want to use it? The products you're using won't affect it, but why do you want to start on a "permanent" toner?
I don't like the texture of the semi-permanent toners, I feel like they stiffened the hair (could just be my own random experience).
Also they are were really uneven in my hair even when I used a porosity spray.
I was wondering if it mattered if there was already some tone on the hair if I was going to be using a toner with developer.

It seems more like the ends of your hair are too dark to tone the same as your roots. Uneven porosity won't help, but as the sprays aren't helping, I think that's not all of the issue. Was your hair dyed before bleaching?
What semi permanent toners did you use in the past? The only way they can possibly make your hair stiff is if you didn't manage to wash it all out properly. Some can be quite sticky.
No, don't clarify wash before and as I already said, no, the semi permanent toners won't make a difference to the outcome overall. But it won't solve your problem to use the other toners if either your hair porosity it uneven (infact it will be made worse by the peroxide) and if the tones of your hair are uneven. You need to sort that out by carefully bleach bathing the darker areas. If you have used dye on the ends though, it could be staining.
Thanks Janine for your advice!
I will probably not be bleaching any time soon as I actually had already gone in and selectively bleached some of the darker parts, and then the older highlights I'd had before started turning red (I should have used color b4 on them I guess) and in the end I damaged those selected parts. I am a little bleach-wary at the moment and might just deal with uneven-ness for the time being, it at least gives "dimension" to the hair.
So you were red before? If that's right, that's where the issues are coming from. You have some slight staining.
You should be wary of using anything with peroxide. Toners have a tendency to be ammonia heavy as well which makes them a lot more damaging for the amount of affect they give. They don't last long and you have to redo them as often as semis or shampoo.
No I had a few blonde highlights here and there on the top of my head and they started "glowing" bright red/ orange under the bleach.
