Using bleach baths to go dark/mid brown to blonde?

Has anybody done it?

I'm debating whether to full bleach once, and then use bleach baths to gradually work my way up. Or just do bleach baths instead until I can get as light as I want to be.

I don't mind if it takes a while - I can always use 'toner' to take the edge of the brassiness - but I'd like an idea of how long it would take/how often I could bleach bath?

Just that I don't have anyone to help me, and I have quite a bit of virgin regrowth, plus stupid thick hair and I don't know if I could get an even coverage through a full bleach.

Thanks

You say you have virgin regrowth, so does that mean the rest is dyed brown? If so start by using a colour remover, it will really help. Trying to bleach out dark dyes usually results in a lot of banding and brighter orange tones, by getting the old colour out first the lightening process is much easier.

Sorry, I should have said I have used a colour remover already. My natural colour is a darkish mousy brown and the rest is now reddish mid brown.
