Tried to dye dark hair to light

Hey !

My natural hair is dark brown, almost black. I bleached my hair to orange, in order to dye it to light brown.
I dye my hair to light brown with regular drugstore permanent hair dye , and the result was orange brown hair πŸ™
So I dye over it with medium brown and now my hair looks ok, with very weak red /orange tint.

How can I dye my hair permenantly to light brown / dark blonde  without orange /red ?
There are no toners in regular stores in my country.

Should I try ash color? Or maybe bleach to yellow stage?

You need to give your hair a rest. You have already double processed your hair and any more bleach/ peroxide products could really ruin the condition of your hair.
I would recommend that in a month or so you use a color remover which should take you back to the orange base and then lighten further by doing a bleach bath. Then you can use a semi permanent/ direct dye to get the light brown you want.

hey puerkz
I did about 4-5 bleaches to my hair and redye , and its condition is good. the bleach makes my hair more straight and I like it, and  the dye makes my hair thicker. and I am not afraid from ammonia and stuff like this so I prefer permanent hair dye πŸ™‚

I really want a hair color like harry steyls ( )

you said that I should light further.. to which color? yellow?

Bleach damage can take up to a month to show up. If you have already done that much processing to your hair, then you really need to look after it now.  I wont recommend anything apart from direct dyes at this point.
The reason you hair is straight and thick is because with every process, its losing its structural stability from the damage.
I wouldnt consider that a light brown . Its more of a medium ash brown i think. I cant really see red tones in it on my ipad. But i might be wrong.

hey
I have been bleaching my hair for about 2 months .. I really like the result.. I don't use anymore iron hair straighter .. πŸ™‚ my hair now is "naturally" wavy - straight .. and I have naturally oily skin and scalp so the hair doesn't look dry πŸ™‚

I have already dyed to medium brown (number 5) . it looks very natural and lighter than my natural hair, but it too dark than what I wanted.
after I failed to dye to light brown (it turns orange) , I dye to medium brown (5). but now I want lighter shade

there is no red tones in that picture, but I heard that my hair can turn green if I dye bleached orange hair with ash dye πŸ™ espacially if the previous dye was not ash..

"...doesn't look dry" yet. The integrity of your hair is being broken down and it'll continue to get worse. Skin and scalp being oily have little to do with hair being in good condition after bleaching. It's more likely that products you are using is making it seem like it's in good condition.

Oh wow, a chemical relaxer? And a black box dye? I'm sorry, but I'm pretty certain you've totally fried your hair, if it wasn't already. πŸ™ Chemical relaxers are really vicious.

The hair relaxer remove the dye and discover the orange and yellow hair.. So i hurry to cover this and i found black hair dye.. I have never seen a hair like that.. It is har d to explain because i am not native english speaker. Hair felt like s**t and looks like pubic hair

There is a big advantage to be a male in this case.. But now i have to regrowth my haid becausw i want long hair πŸ™

I think there is no way to both dye dark hair to light and look natural.. I have never seen someone that did it.. There is always that orange and yellow ugly colors that will show up suddenly

It is possible to dye dark hair to natural looking light shades but it is not easy.
Whenever dark hair is lightened the underlying pigment is revealed, so it will be red or orange. If you bleach further it will be yellow.
If you want a neutral or cool toned colour you need to bleach at least a shade lighter, so if you bleach to a level 8 yellow blonde you could get a level 6 or 7 neutral brown.
As you have learnt though, chemical damage is cumulative, you can't just keep processing the same hair. Even strong hair has a limit to how much chemical processing it can take.

It's perfectly possible. While I wouldn't say what colour I have in my profile picture looks natural, it's also not orange and very little yellow and I could make it look natural if I wanted. My hair is also very dark naturally. But for now, you need to stop. Either go and get a very short cut and start again, then we can talk you through getting dark blonde hair that is straight.

Also, what country are you in? Many online stores ship internationally.

But even the result will looks natural , it will fade to orange/yellow..
A half year ago, i dyed my bleached ginger brown hair (i used sunin) to black, and after a week the dye start to fade and it was black ginger.. I dye about 3 times in order to stop the fadding.

Janineb, i live in israel.. There are no toners in drugstore but maybe there are in a store that sells stuff to barbershops

No, I use purple/silvering shampoo in every wash. It's very easy to stop the yellow coming through and without bleaching the hell out of my dark hair and using harsh toners.

Black dye fades. It always fades. It being permanent means nothing, it just means it's intended to be permanent, but can still fade, which it will, to a greater or lesser degree. It just does. The more you dye it, and over previously dyed hair, and ESPECIALLY hair beached with SunIn, you'll actually make it fade FASTER. The cuticle is eventually ripped off and so the hair has trouble holding in the dye molecules. The only reason it'll last after dying it three times is because it's stained.

There's very few toners in the chemists/drugstores in the UK too. Mostly there's none. I generally buy online. Silver shampoo, used by people with grey hair to remove yellow tones, is still available in most chemists and places that sell shampoo here.
