Yes, you can use a remover now. You can use it up to three times as well. It's drying, so you just need a good deep condition after.
It will remove the toning though I'm afraid, but I think it's worth it as you can easily tone again.
Janineb is it safe to tone again so soon? I would have to use a 20 volume developer and its only been 2 days since I toned?
Personally i woudn't use an oxidative toner at all on freshly bleached hair (wait at least a month) and then only use 10 vol peroxide or lower.
Yeah, I wouldn't use that toner either. Ever really.
As Wicked Pixie said earlier "You can tone out the brassiness with violet shampoo/conditioners or violet direct dye diluted in conditioner". I didn't realise you were still considering using the oxidative toner!
Ok guys so I removed the color with a color remover and it went yellow/light orange.
When I then applied Purple conditioner with a tiny amount of purple food coloring it looked GREAT and the colors combined looked like a wondeful ash blonde, just what Im going for. However despite leaving it in a hair mask for nearly 2 hours, when I washed it, it took most of it out. -r-
It looked so great when I had the violet in, and it really balanced out all the orange and yellow, but it didnt stay! GRRR
I'M almost convinced that I should go out and buy a semi/weak violet dye, mix it up with conditioner and leave it in? What do you guys think?
That is what I do to tone blonde hair.
Do you use a proper violet/blue hair dye?
I feel that it would work better than food coloring/purple shampoo....I need something stronger.
Yes, I use either a Violet dye, or mix my own with a purple based blue and a smidge of pink, heavily diluted with conditioner. You have more control this way, you can make it as strong as you need, and leave it on as long as you need, plus you can put it in a mask or similar and deep condition your hair at the same time.
Oh guys I screwed up!
So I brought some violet manic panic intense semi permanent dye and added it to the conditioner. Must have added too much as when I put it on and washed it off after 5 mins it stayed patchy purple *stars*
Ok now all this has been a real learning experience for me so this is my plan for next time, let me know if this sounds right (?)
1) Tomorrow morning go to store and buy brown hair dye. Go back to brown. Sigh...was so close to achieving ash blonde 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁
2) Condition my hair over next month with oils etc...to build it back up
3) Use a color remover to remove all color(s) and then bleach in about a months time
4) Bleach until it is the color of a light banana (NO oranges!)
5) use a volume 20 and toner.
Oh guys what a mess I am in. does this sound like plan? I cant be walking around with purple hair!
Don't panic, these type of dyes wash out. So just wash your hair with hot water and a strong shampoo such as clarifying or anti-dandruff. If it is still too purple, you can leave the shampoo on for half an hour or so before rinsing or try a fading treatment such as vitamin C, baking soda and lemon juice etc
I shampooed a little bit but my hair felt so...straw like!? it must have been the bleach and all the toner/20 developer. Would maybe baking soda be better idea than shampoo?
The worst part is that through that mess of purple/lavender I can actually see some lovely ashy/beige colors being balanced out!

I find baking soda more harsh, but it is very individual, the anti-dandruff shampoo works best on my hair. I apply it thickly to damp hair, really work it in, cover, blast with a hair dryer and leave for half an hour before rinsing with hot water. All fading methods are harsh, especially on hair that is still fragile from being recently bleached. A deep conditioner is a must afterwards.
wash it a few times and the purple will fade. Dont go back to brown if you are going to remove it again in a few months. Its a waste of time, money and it will damage your hair.
try the fading methods. If you can use another color remover, it might still remove some of the orange out. You can use them up to three times.
Then try a violet or lilac dye to tone. Leave it on for a few minutes, checking every so often to make sure it hasnt gone too purple. pastel colors like lilac fade much quicker so its easier to get rid of the purple if it does manage to stain.
you can also tone using purple shampoos and leaving them on for half an hour or so.
Good advice guys! I have washed it a few times and even done a vinegar rinse and it seems to be fading.
It is now a creamy/white/lavender look with hints of strawberry blonde. So I assume once it fades back into the orange/yellow I can add a TINY bit of purple/violet dye to conditioner (tiny being the correct word here, I know that I added way to much last time ??? )
It sounds pretty. Yes, use much less dye next time, and try on a strand before putting it on your whole head. Always, always, strand test lol.
