hi lovelies!
I've just used colour b4 on my ginger hair (loreal feria intense copper) and it has worked fabulously! I am now a strawberry blonde, which I'm quite happy to keep for a bit, but was wondering- would I be able to tone out using touch of silver shampoo or would that too cause reoxidisation? I've attached a picture of what shade I'm currently at. I've bought a semi permanent, ammonia free blonde but don't want to use it just get until I'm sure I'm all clean π
Ey up you π
The silver shampoo (or any direct dye - Directions etc.) shouldn't cause reoxidation, as it's peroxide that will do that. Try using your silver shampoo as a dye: slather it on and leave it for an hour or two. But as you're more gingery than brassy blonde, I'd try making a toner out of white conditioner (I use Tesco own brand coconut conditioner) and a tiny spot of blue dye. (Blue is the opposite of orange so is better for toning gingery hair.)
PS - everyone meet my lovely mate π
Yay! I thought I'd found you but you actually found me!!!
That sounds perfect- I'll get to Tesco at lunch π
It's not bad as it is, my friend at works says I look like a 90s grunge babe, which isn't a bad thing in my eyes xx
Hello! *waves* Love your kitty. Agreed with your lovely friend, just wanted to say that I suggest testing a strand of hair with developer before using your haircolor to check for any leftover color that could still be stuck in the hair. If the strand darkens you'll need to wash your hair some more or do another round of color remover. Otherwise the remaining color will reoxidize and your hair will go dark when you apply the color.
Hi Psicine!!
Aww thanks, he's a demon but I loves him!!
I did the toner last night and washed 2/3 times, it definitely doesn't stink like eggs anymore so that's a good start!
I tried the developer trick this morning with a bit of hair I cut out and it didn't look to me like it went any darker, I rinsed it out and left it on the side so I'll check again tonight when I get home
The dye I've got to use after is an ammonia free one, not sure if that will make a difference, but hopefully will minimise the danger of reoxidisation?!
I'm rubbish at the difference in the chemical make up of the different sorts of dye but it's the peroxide that will reoxidise the colour. Not sure about ammonia. Also not sure whether your dye has peroxide in it.

Yeahhhh think it's probably got peroxide in it, mostly because I saw it say peroxide on the box!
Also oxidisation-peroxide - duh!! Nice work, Charlotte!!
I'll wash it a few more times tonight and see how brave I'm feeling but will probably leave it until tomorrow
