Okay.. So I dyed my hair A few months ago with some Manic Panic's ultra violet. I slept with a bag on my head and kept it in my hair overnight. I liked it for a while but when it came to trying to get my hair back to blonde it would NOT wash out! The heck. I had this problem with the amplified blue-whatever.,and i had to but it out at the ends of my hair. I was too afraid to dye/bleach it again.
Well my hair still isn't doing too well, after getting it bleached (at a good reviewed salon...) My hair started breaking on the ends. I've done 2 protein treatments, used the best conditioners i can afford, and it's still breaking. .
I tried to do a ombre effect with my hair because 1. I didn't want to bleach my hair again 2. I couldn't afford it even if i did want to. and. 3. i'd probably be bald if i did.
Let me say if was effin' hard not to contaminate the hair i wanted to keep blond with the brown dye at my roots. I used a dark brown, which is my natural hair color, then used a lighter almond color (literally what it was called.) to better blend into the blond. I did the sides and from of my hair, and my mother did the back..
I love my mother, I swear, but she totally screwed it up. On the back on my head I have a strip of my natural, a GAP of blonde then the Almond color.. Which I desperately need to fix..
Why is this relevant you ask? well, that zebra effect on the back of my head is what cause me to use the purple dye (which i already had) until i can afford to buy some more dye.
I want to take a honey or caramel color on the blonde i have and just smear it all over my head, and hopefully, the darker tones stay on the top of my head. I just want to even out everything basically.
but im still concerned about the breakage of my hair. But! I've also heard that adding color can actually help it.
Goodness I wrote a lot..
If you can give me some advice on some products i can use, or just help me not go completely bald, I'd really appreciate it *lovestars*
Using box dyes will only add to the damage, it certainly won't help.
I am confused about which pic is your hair now, and what exactly you need help with.
I would advise only using direct dyes, such as the manic Panic that you used, until the damaged hair has been cut off. This type of dye is totally non damaging and actually conditioning. Adore comes in natural colours and you can blend or mix them.
The Last picture is the latest. I never buy boxed dyes anymore. They never give enough, really aren't worth the money. I used Clairol Professional Flare for my roots, I'd use it again, but I doubt it'd do me any good.
*I looked into Adore, but it doesn't seem like sally's sells it. I assume I'll have to buy it online?
Do you know of anything else I can use? I'll look into it myself as well.
My main concern is basically if there's anything i can do for my hair to keep it from breaking.
And if there's any dye i can use that wont make it worse (which you answered.)
Any oxidative dye will add to the damage.
I don't know what US Sallys sells, as they have totally different lines to the UK sallys. There is Wella Colour Fresh, and few other lines that make direct dyes in natural colours. Adore is the best out of all the brands i have tried, plus it is much cheaper.
The only thing that might help your hair at this point is Olaplex. If it is at the point of breaking it may be too far gone though.
All you can do is cut off as much of the damage as you can and really baby your hair. Avoid any further chemical processes, heat styling, even harsh shampoo and hot water. Switching to CO washing and using some natural oils (Coconut oil is a great place to start) will also help
Oh goodness. I certainly wont be able to get my hands on Olaplex, sadly. I do occasionally sleep with coconut oil in my hair overnight.. I found Ion's Color Brilliance Semi-perm and it's a direct dye. unfortunately there's not many color choices. It seems i'm missing out on a lot of good products.. :c
I'm going to have my BF help color my hair this time. Hopefully it'll work out better.
Thank you for the information π
I would have never thought of using temp dyes.
