Hey guys!
So I bleached my hair for the first time today, previously had been colored with several red then brown box dyes (my poor hair!!!!!). I unfortunately did not think to do a color remover (did one the time I went from black hair to bright red but thought just bleach would be fine this time around since I wasn't quite as dark). I did the whole coconut deal and also did another round after bleaching. I know my hair is damaged but right now it feels pretty ok.
My deal is going out in public!! Right now my hair is pretty much bleached blonde up top where my roots were growing in (I'm naturally a mousey blonde) and then a fairly uniform gingery gradient from top to bottom. I think the bleach turned out as evenly as it could and I was sure to do my roots last, but I guess that the issue was not stripping the dye out first as the ends are still pretty dark.
What can I do y'all? I have work on Monday and I don't know if this is gonna fly!! Can I do a color remover say, Saturday? Will that help? Help me resist the oh so tempting double processing please!! Thanks so much guys!!
Sounds quite nice actually!
A colour remover might work, and is worth a try, but it's probably stained. Reds and red browns stain. What result were you actually going for?
I would do a colour remover to see if it will shift some of the ginger, but that is as light as you will be able to go for now. So you will have to look at dyes at least as dark as your darkest hair, preferably direct dyes only.
It is fine to use a colour remover straight after bleach, just not the other way round.
My boyfriend does think it looks pretty cool lol but I don't think the color is doing me any favors...
I'm looking to get back to my natural color which is a dirty blonde. I'm grateful this color is even and not patchy but the ginger is not a good look. So I can do the color remover, what is a direct dye? Will I have to remove that again the next time I bleach? Thanks y'all!!
Direct dyes are true semi permanents like the ones sold here. Basically any dye that doesn't have to be mixed with peroxide (developer)
You can fade it so there isn't much on your hair next time you bleach or bleach over it, but some colours do turn into other colours when bleached so you have to be careful, eg purples go either green or pink.
If you want a natural colour you could try toning with wash out mousses to tide you over before you can bleach again.
Do you have any ideas as to what would be a good semi color to put over my hair for the moment that would be easiest to bleach out? (Doesn't have to be natural)
Pic of my mop btw, tried to get it in natural light but it's a lil more orange irl IMO.
Also, I used a 20 vol developer to bleach. How long should I wait until another go?
Unless you put something really dark over it, then you're going to have that reverse ombre look with anything. I think it looks great though. I'd suggest living with it for a few days to see if you can get used to it. It can sometimes take a few days. Ginger does work for you. You could try a diluted blue dye to tone done the amount of orange.
Otherwise, pink would give you a deep pink on the roots and a darker more red pink on the ends. A Purple would cover depending how dark it is. Or just a brown.
BUT, all of them, especially pink and brown, risk staining that might not bleach out. Once you've done a full bleach you need to wait at least a month before doing it again. I really do think the staining on the ends isn't likely to come off, though it might get paler.
Thank you guys soo much for your help! I put ColorFix on it today and that helped, am now sitting with my handmade blue toner conditioner thingy on it. I think you're right about getting used to it, I'm feeling a bit better and even got some compliments from strangers on it while I was out. Gonna baby it for now and wait til the time is right to bleach again! π
I think it's absolutely beautiful. The color makes your eyes pop.
