30 volume is used on me. it does sting slightly.  i just got my roots done and i notice a small red spot on my scalp near my forehead area. it's small and not blistered or anything, just red. is this normal bleach irritation or a real concern?

You'd know if you had bad chemical burns 🙂 any irritation isn't ideal, but one red spot isn't anything to worry about. It might scab over, but if its just red, then it probably won't.

I have a few red spots upon closer inspection  and my scalp feels mildly irritated

Mild chemical burns then, still nothing to really worry about. Not perfect, but not awful. Seriously, if it were bad, you'd know. Even if you get a few scabs from this it's fine, just avoid picking them.

I have had a similar reaction to bleaching my roots. Try and leave your hair alone for now and put some coconut oil on your scalp to help soothe and moisturise it.

Moisturising your scalp is the best thing you can do for it.  When I chemically burnt my scalp, it was red all over and like a bad sunburn.  Some people have had their scalp crack open with third degree chemical burns--when it gets that bad, you need to see a doctor.

It sounds like your scalp is a bit dried out and irritated, like Janine and Wicked Pixie said.  Put a bit of oil on it (coconut or olive) and let it rest.  Wash the oil out with conditioner (conditioner is best for getting oil out, anyway, more effective than shampoo) and leave it several days before you wash it with any shampoo.

So it will be ok? I can bleach in the future?

Hmm ok. I must admit I have some hair color a.d.d. And I've been bleach blonde for almost four months and I have wanted to get rid of it on and off since like March. Main reason because I would have to cut my hair to my chin to get rid of any dark strands remaining from my old highlights so I can't get it to the right color anyway. I'm also sick of such dry and brittle hair.  Luckily with clarifying shampoo it's very very dry and a little sticky but not gummy or breaking off in pieces so my hair isn't fried beyond repair but if I get highlights and lowlights and let the back layer rest and grow it will at least be somewhat healthier.  Knowing that my head got burnt scares me even if it isn't serious because if I do this continuously for years must cause built up damage. Thanks guys.

No, it's not built up damage on your scalp. Your skin continually replaces itself. In some very, very severe chemical burn cases you could have some permanent damage that would prevent it. But that's burns that go deep down into the lower layers of skin. You have very slight burns. They will heal as they are or scab over (if they aren't scanned already I don't think they will now). Then the skin is replaced with new skin and you're good to go.

Hair is different as it's already dead as it grows out and it doesn't renew.

From what you're describing, your scalp would get more damaged with a sunburn, to be honest.  Seriously, you have mild irritation and your scalp needs a bit of moisture.  That's it.

And adding more permanent dye to already damaged hair won't make it healthier--it'll just be darker and slightly more damaged.

You seem to be looking for excuses to not keep your hair blonde, while at the same time protesting that you really want it to be bleach blonde.  I think you really need to take a good, hard look about what you really do want.  If you don't like your hair the colour it currently is, change it.  If you're not comfortable or happy with your hair, then what's the point of it?

True you are right. The reason I am stuck on what I want is because my hair can't be bleach blonde from top to bottom unless I get a super short cut (bottom can't take more bleach without damage risks but the top layer of virgin hair was bleached so it's kind of like a reverse ombré effect). And admittedly I am super picky. I also like to have different looks all the time with clothes and hair and accessories alike but unfortunately hair isn't that versatile. I know I like having blonde hair but some days I'm feeling the desire to be bombshell platinum and other days I feel like platinum is too over the top and a highlighted look is nicer.  I'll probably be semi happy and semi unhappy no matter which look I choose :/
