Hello I'm new and wonder if you can help.
I have been undergoing chemo and on a break for a few months. My hair has grown back fairly well, albeit with plenty of grey in among my naturally light warm brown. (about 70%). I am desperate to go blonde again in a few weeks to just feel normal. Thinking of blond highlights using bleach on a cap so the product doesn't touch my scalp. I say this as I have a tendency to turn brassy yellow. My hairdresser dislikes bleach but previous attempts at lightening with high lift tints haven't always been successful. That said if anyone can recommend a good bleach - I am sure she will be persuaded. Thanks
My hair doesn't lift well with blonde high lift tints either, it has a lot of natural yellow tones so it goes very brassy, mine reacts much better to bleach with a low vol developer and then toning. I would probably be more likely to advise you to go to a hairdresser who is confident in using bleach rather than persuading yours to do something she's not sold on! You can always stick with her for your cuts but find a colourist you like to do your highlights.
Thanks for that. I was considering it, but she's my friend and i don't want to hurt her feelings. x
I think I'd rather hurt someone's feelings than chance them ruining my hair! π (have a read of the bleaching disasters thread if you need convincing!)
Toning can be really key to a good blonde as well though if your hair tends towards yellow. A good purple or silver shampoo or some violet direct dye mixed into white conditioner can do wonders!
(I'll let someone else recommend a bleach as I've not lightened mine for a while and I can't remember the ones I liked!)
