Hello,
I'm new here. I've had turquoise hair for about a year now but I want to go dark grey. I haven't dyed my hair in like 3 months so it's faded quite a bit. I'll add pictures showing before and now. I've got like 1 1/2 inch natural roots too.
I just want to know whether I can straight to a bleach bath from the colour it's at now or whether to keep using head and shoulders more first?
The lighter blue is what it's faded too. Looks more faded in person.
Try using a colour remover. I find they work pretty well on turquoise. However, it's hard to get past the minty green I have in my avatar. You might have to put up with a darker grey. at least at first. (Depends which shade of grey you want of course)

I want dark grey anyway. I just don't know how light I need to get this first. I've used colourb4 and it did nothing. Do I need one containing peroxide or should I just bleach bath?
I would avoid bleach as long as possible.
You could try the shampoo/oil/bleach powder method. http://www.hairdyeforum.com/index.php/topic,13842.0.html
I hate it because it makes my hair yellow each time. The girl who came up with it says it's minerals in my hair reacting with the bleach powder, but I don't know. I do everything to remove the minerals before hand and it still goes yellow so I stopped using it. It also damaged my hair. However, other people swear by it. They get good results and they say their hair feels fine after. So read that thread and decide if you'd like to do that.
Otherwise, here's a thread with some other colour removing suggestions. http://www.hairdyeforum.com/index.php/topic,1704.0.html
Oh, lastly, what dye did you use? There are some that are permanent and nothing removes them totally.
Thanks for the advice. The links you sent aren't taking me anywhere specific. Just to the main forum page.
Can I ask why you say no bleach? Purely because of the damage or will it do something to the colour like send it another colour or something?
I tried the dish soap thing before and it budged nothing.
Hmm, I don't know why the links aren't working as they're sending me to the right place... They're both in the tutorial section, so go there and look for the bleach powder shampoo and oil method and how to fade hair threads.
Bleach can actually not only add more damage than is worth the amount of dye it'll remove, but it can also drive the dye further into the hair making it even harder to remove. It really is the last ditch effort after you've tried everything else.
Again, what dye did you use? It'll save me some time if it's one of the ones that's impossible to remove π Also, which colour remover did you use?

Sorry, I forgot to say! I've been using directions for like 1.5 years but I usually have a shortish bob so there's not too much buildup of colour as I trim it often.
I'm going to try the vitamin c method first I think.
I tried the colourb4 remover?
