Remove colour before bleaching?

I wanted to dye my hair purple so I bleached it, it wasn't light enough for purple, but I wanted to give my hair a break from bleach. So I decided I would try out a blue dye I had lying around and then bleach again at a later date.

So I have blue in my hair and is fading to blonde and green in a few places, but I'm ready for a change. Do I need to or would it be better to try and get the blue out (shampooing, color B4, etc.) and then bleach, or will it fine to bleach over the blue?

Always try removing as much colour as possible before bleaching. Bleach isn’t made to remove dye and though sometimes it does, it’s unpredictable and can actually cause colour to sink further into the hair shaft making it harder to remove.

I’m surprised that it was too dark for purple, but not blue. Purple is normally a much more forgiving colour. What shade of purple is it? As blue is in purple you might just be able to put it directly over the blue.

Thanks for your advice.

I suppose it wasn't too dark, it was too yellow? I tried the purple and my hair went brown, then as the purple faded and my hair went back to yellow/orange I tried blue and it worked fine.

I've attached some pictures so you can see.

I will try to remove as much of the blue as I can before I try the bleach. My sister gifted me some dates for Christmas, it is a dye called Ion and the color is fushia, which I think is a pink colour?

Thank you again!
