Red on bleached hair

Hi all.

I have bleached my hair all over and would love to go a deep red colour but I've noticed they're mainly pink based reds and I know for a fact I'll struggle to get a red red. Can anyone suggest a colour that might work on bleached hair? Or have you also had this dilemma. I'm not too worried about the brand, I've used a fair few previously.

Thank you all x

Do you have a picture of what color you are looking for it might be as easy as just adding a few drops of purple to make it a deeper more jewel toned burgundy, but it really depends on what your definition of deep red is.

I'm think a shade along these lines

Sorry for the dodgy screenshot
But I know, knowing my luck, something that colour will be pink based. I think you're right about toning it down with a hint of purple

That colour is pink based, I can see just by looking. And read the caption... "wonderful rich dark PINK using cerise and dark tulip" neither of which are red at all.

It's pink all right πŸ™‚ so I actually think you want a pink based red.

If you feel really don't though, there are orange based reds that you can mix with the pink based. Special effects reds are really good for that. But they aren't going to look like that picture unless you put in a lot more of the pink red than the orange. It is a good way of toning down a pink fade though.

Agreed with Janine here, that photo is very much a deep pink. I had similar results to that by using Special Effects Candy Apple Red. I also made a much brighter, truer red (sort of a red velvet colour) by mixing that colour with Special Effects Nuclear Red which is a more orangey toned, very bright red.
