Having taken advice from fabulous members on here I am preparing to bleach my roots [powder bleach and 30v developer] (and and previous roots that didn't lift very much) and then maybe bleach bathing the rest to even the colour out [again 30v developer, powder bleach and white shampoo] I am also armed with 3 different toner's
Ive read a lot about coconut oil, could anyone please explain how this is to be used and what exactly it is for(precise instructions would be fab as I'm clueless).
And lastly if anyone has general bleaching tips they would be much appreciated
Coconut oil helps to protect the scalp and hair whilst bleaching. Melt the coconut oil in your hands (it is solid at room temperature) and fully saturate your hair with it. Leave it on for at least an hour before bleaching, don't rinse it out just put the bleach straight over it.
Thank you again for coming to my aid!
Is there any brand / type of coconut oil that should be used?
Any brand really but you want pure 100% coconut oil. Preferably virgin cold pressed. It's a white solid at room temperature, just scoop some out with a spoon and let it melt in your hands (ie don't heat up the whole jar) before massaging into your scalp and hair (and skin, and you can lick it off if you like, it's good for you)
I let my cats lick some off my fingers last time, they both loved it.
You can get it in most health food shops and some supermarkets, if it's not with the rest of the cooking oil try the "world foods" kind of sections.
I find it easier sometimes to heat the whole jar, which doesn't harm it, just put it in warm water! In summer it'll often be liquid anyway as it's melting temp is about 23 degrees c.
My last jar went a bit weird after I warmed it up in a sink of hot water, after it re-solidified it was rock hard and really difficult to get a small amount out.
My current jar/tub is way too big to even contemplate it ๐
There's no real reason that would have happened, other than something being wrong with it or it just being colder! At the moment it's so cold in my house I don't have a hope in he'll of getting any out with my fingers. ๐ I do the same with giant jars too, I just float them in the bath lol
I whack mine in the microwave on low power for a few seconds. Mine is like granite at the moment, I can hardly even chisel any off!
Weird, my big tub is actually quite a nice consistency for getting a teaspoon into at the moment.

Ive just double checked my order and I got refined one, will this make much difference?
Ah, yes, it's not right and won't work as well when bleaching. I would use that for cooking and get a virgin coconut oil for your hair ๐

That sounds wrong... You're sure it's actually virgin coconut oil, not refined or mixed with something else? It should be absolutely solid at the moment, there's no way it should be scoopable right now. Well, for no reason I can think of...
This is the one I have.
Ingredients: organic cold pressed virgin coconut oil.
It is solid but I can get a spoon into it, it's not like granite.
