Hey everyone, I'm wanting to fade the pink in my hair as much as possible to put a lighter pink in it. I've used head and shoulders 4 times now and it hasn't really faded it π can someone please tell me pippas method ? I'd really like to try and see if that works. I need my hair light enough so I can do it Friday ! Thanks x
(c/p from one of Pippa/Knee High Susan's posts) "fairy liquid, head and shoulders, bicarb and lemon juice. Mix and leave on for an hour, make sure you deep condition after as it is drying but effective."
I eHave just now edited my original fade colour post to inclue pippa and susans recipe for easy finding π
Thanks guys ! π
did it work?
I've used this method before, while drying it worked amazingly. Took my poppy red down to a baby pink in two go's.
I tried it last night. I'm trying to fade Virgin Rose which is difficult, but it did strip a lot of colour. I'm now at about cupcake pink. Only, I didn't use the lemon juice because I forgot, or the head and shoulders as it gives me dandruff and very sore skin and I didn't use the washing up liquid as we only have antibacterial (not my choice) and I didn't really want to put that on my skin. So instead I used clarifying shampoo and bicarb. So it wasn't really this method at all lol But hey, it worked pretty well still! When I rinsed my hair it was coming out purply.
One thing I don't really understand is the reasoning for lemon juice with bicarb. Seems to me like bicarb is more than enough. Is the lemon juice for another reason?
I usually just do clarifying shampoo, bicarb and washing up liquid. I haven't used lemon juice before. Still works fine for me.
The lemon juice is there because it is a slightly adapted version of the deep cleaning recipe I use for my dreadlocks. I noticed the deep clean stripped colour and changed it for the use of fading colour when I did other people's hair.
I've not got round to trying it without lemon juice, though it seems to work just as well without from what other people have been saying, it is up to you how you do it of course. I have also had success removing dye from light clothing when mixing the bicarb and lemon with Ariel washing gel and leaving on overnight.
Hi, wanting to fade my SFX Deep Purple so I can use a lighter colour. I have 2 questions
Firstly, where is the 'fading colour' thread? I tried searching but couldn't find it (sorry, I'm sure it's somewhere really obvious, I never seem to get on with search engines :-/ )
Secondly, with the recipe on this thread, what sort of ratios do you use or is it a case of chuck a load into a bowl and whack it on.
Thanks in advance.
Lou xx
EDITED- Just to say I've answered my first question, found the hair fading thread. It's in Tutorials/FAQ section.
i literally just pour enough to covr my head, there's no precise science to it. ive also stoppped using lemon juice, as i ran out. i didnt notice a difference. it's SO drying though, just go give you a heads up =) so deeeeeeeep conditon!
Thanks π
Deep conditioner at the ready.
i know someone who used silver shampoo and it took her bright pink to a baby pink but obviously had a purple-y white tint that it usually has when you leave it on too long, i find it best works on dry hair as well xxx
So this has been bugging me for awhile. While I do agree that bicarb (or baking soda) and lemon juice can both fade your hair. It doesn't seem very useful to combine them. The acid in the lemon juice will cancel out the bass in the bicard (that fizzing reaction you get when you mix them together)
So I like the recipe but I would leave out the lemon juice or do that as a separate rinse.
I think Pippa said recently that she removed the lemon juice from the mixture because she just didn't have any and it worked exactly the same as before.
