Newbie - 20 vol brand?

Hiya

I'm totally new to bleaching. I'm wanting to dye a bright bright red so need to bleach first.

I have dark blonde hair and I've read up that 20 vol bleach is the way to go.  But kits I've found (like Stargazer, Manic Panic, Riche) that state the strength only go as low as 30.

I did a search on the forums and found someone saying XXL is about 20 but some find it a bit harsh on the hair.

Is there a brand I buy online or in the high street (UK) that I can use as a beginner which is a suitable strength do you know?

I looked at Smart Beauty Total Blonde but it doesn't list how strong it is and I can't find it on superdrug's web site (I mainly shop online as it's difficult for me to get to the shops)

I think I can buy the bleach and hydrogen peroxide to mix at home but as I've never done it before I'd prefer a kit.  Plus if I hate it I might never want to do it again and I don't want to buy loads up front.

Thanks.

you could get the 30 vol kit, even the xxl box, and dilute it down with shampoo to make it gentler. Otherwise its popping to Sallys and buying the developer and bleach powder separately πŸ™‚

you could get a nice bright red over dark blonde easily itd probably go orange or pink depending on the base if you bleach your hair lighter

I bought Trulites blue powder bleach and peroxide 20 vol off ebay. I tried a strand test with unbleached and whilst it gave a good colour it wasn't bright enough for what I really wanted.  So I strand tested doing a bleach bath then dying and liked it much better.

I took a photo of my strand tests results to show you the colour I could achieve unbleached and bleached with dark blond hair
