Just to make everyone aware, I am fully aware of the damage I have done to my hair. I was absolutely determined to go silver before I finish college in July. And I am shaving my entire head in September to raise money for Macmillan cancer support - so sleep easy, all the dead hair will be gone.
I'm not really sure what's left will last that long. You're almost certainly going to get more breakage, probably a lot more. None of us are trying to be mean to you... we've just seen this many times I'm afraid. Many of us have actually done the same thing.
wow you're so brave for putting yourself forward for a head shave!
I think you are one brave lady full stop. It is great that you have posted your hair journey here so others can learn from it, so many people hide the fact that they have damaged their hair, I really admire your honesty. I hope you raise lots of money/awareness with your head shave.
Just another update!!!
I went to the hairdressers today for a hair cut, and I honestly think it looked like she went at my hair with the kitchen scissors *nono* :
So as soon as I got home I shaped it myself:
Then decided I wanted a little bit more off:
And cut more into the shaved side:
Finished result *bee* :
You did a great job at reshaping it! A lot better job than the hairstylist did! I love the cut, especially with the sidecut and your color just pulls it all together. Idky I just love short platinum hair with a sidecut, I think it looks so edgy and cute:) You are so brave for committing to shave your head for a good cause. I couldn't do it, I don't have the guts and I would cry lol. You've been on quite the journey getting your hair this light! Did you experience any scalp burns at all? My hair would have been complete mush a long time ago had I went through this journey! lol you must have some strong hair!
She really hacked it, you did a better job.
Holy moly you did such a better job!
My hair feels so so so much better now, especially at the back. Yes I am shaving my head and doing a skydive (eek!) for Macmillan as they have helped my family a lot. She didn't thin it out at all, so I mainly just shaped the bottom and thinned it out. I'm really happy with it π
Wow good luck for your sky dive and head shave, that's really amazing! Your hair looks so much better with the re shape you gave it
Your hair looks loads better after you shaped it! I'm so impressed with people who skydive; even the thought of doing one makes me feel queasy!
Regarding the damage comments, we do have to point them out in the thread so that people who might be less experienced with colouring their hair don't try to replicate it without knowing the potential impact it can have on their hair and scalp.
I have been slacking and not using my purple shampoo, so my hair gradually got to a banana yellow colour
But I managed to get my hair to a more silvery colour using a mixed up concoction of Directions Silver, Crazy Colour Silver, Directions White Toner and shimmer lights shampoo π
Followed by a deep conditioner with a tiny bit of Directions Violet and Directions Midnight Blue mixed in
I shampooed out using superdrug's "lightest ash blonde wash in/wash out"
And here are the results!!!

I have recently received 2 packs of Pravana Chroma Silk Vivids in Silver, so when my hair is looking yellowy again that will be my next experiment. Has anyone used this dye before?
This is a little bit beautiful π
